Portal View Quality Update

After years of viewing Portal movies in "BEST" quality, we have decided to finally change it back to the original "HIGH" quality setting. "BEST" quality was initially enabled because some movies in the Portal used low-res bitmaps that needed anti-aliasing. With the popularity of 8-bit parodies, however, we have had a lot of games and movies that are meant to look blocky - but instead get anti-aliased.

Remember, you can over-ride our settings by simply setting the quality in your Flash movies. It just takes one simple line of code.

On a completely unrelated note, check out this World Trade Center 2002 proposal which is now being considered as one of the final design concepts! This one seems way cooler than the others, so go cast a vote on it or sumthin'!

Anyone who hasn't been to this site should check it out. After seeing it, I don't know why anyone would want to vote on the other six designs.

I know this is off topic but, I think Joe Zombie Should be on the front page. It's the best stick series ever and I think young flashes dreaming of becoming a stick cartoonist would learn a lot.

I'd prefer it if they went with the five towers in the shape of a middle finger, but since that's not going to happen, at least they came up with a design that doesn't look stupid.

Strange... I was just about to recommend taking off a couple front page things... Create-A-Ride was good on there for a week, and has been taking up space the last, what? Three months? Sim Girl is a great game, but has been on the front page since it came out; I can see keeping the Osama collention link being it was advertised on TV and all (even though it was probably six months ago, the War on Terrorism was again good for a week, taking up space since, and Rooftop Skating I didn't even find that awesome and it's been up there forever.

Now here's an issue I'll actually debate on for once. If you ask me, I don't think they shoud rebuild the WTC. Not only is it a waist of money and time, but it's also a disrespect to all of those people that died on September 11. If you ask me, they should put those two giant spotlights back and leave them there as a memorial in honor of those brave few that gave their lives for the idea of freedom against Terror.
Also, another way to think about it is to realize that the World Trade Center has been a perfect Terrorist target since around 1990. Now what makes this fact change if they were to just put a brand new tower in it's place, huh?
The truth is that no matter how many times we rebuild the towers, they will always be a target for Terror, Endagering countless more lives with every set of building they put up. And if you were to leave the decision up to me, I'd say keep them down for the safety of us and all fellow Americans.

I think there are going to be people pissed off about what you said. To them it means that the terrorist has us licked. To them it be more of a sign of us giving up and stuff.

Personally, I think that new idea from the link Tom gave out is too space-aged. I don't think i would like to see that everytime i look out my window. I think they should rebuild the towers, but i know that may never happen. I realize they will be a constant terrorism target but i think it would be nice seeing the towers back

To that idiot before that said the WTC memorial should be two lights, WAKE UP!!!! They did those lights and they were totally gay. There is so much space there and lower manhattan is in shambles (businesses are in the shit hole). The place needs a giant tourist attraction. I checked out that site and the thing definately seems cool. I will be the tallest building in the world if built. They have rotating resturants on the top floors. That would rule. It also has movie theaters and gardens. It looks mad awesome becuase when you walk in you are actually in a biospere so even if it's raining it will always be a sunny day when you walk around the memorial gardens around the building. Face the facts. 9/11 was a one time deal. Terrorists are never going to pull off something that big ever again. Anyway, the security in New York is so high even today that if a plane got within a few miles fighter jets would be on that planes ass and they would shoot it down. Stop being such a dumbass.

Well, you're right. Simply putting up another tower won't change anything. What needs to change is the government agencies that had the means to prevent this. Our attitude has to change too. MushroomClock said that the terrorists will never pull off something this big again. It's exactly that kind of mentality that got the towers taken down in the first place. We shouldn't be living in fear per se, we just need to be prepared. We were- and still are to a lesser extent- egotistical and didn't take them seriously. We can't let our guard down like that again.
Rebuilding means getting on with normal life, and not letting terrorists determine how our cities are going to look. It'd be stupid just to submit because a group of radical militant fanatics don't like a particular structure. Screw them. We built WTC to serve a purpose, and we need a structure to replace it. Why not make it look cool while we're at it?

Exaggeration17a, those are the facts. A plane will never crash into a building in New York. There is a large no fly zone over the city now, and any plane that comes even a little bit within that no fly zone has figher jets on their ass in no time. I stand by my statement. Al Queda has been severely weakened. Bin Laden in probably dead. Airport security has been improved. And plus, the most major thing, is that passengers will not let a plane be hijacked. The people aboad the 2 WTC planes and Pentagon planes thought they were in for a routine hijacking. Nobody ever thought that they were on a suicide mission. So even if terrorists get past security, they will steal have to get past the passengers. 9/11 will never happen again. China is a much more viable threat to us that any 9/11 re-occurence is. China could kick our ass and probably will. Many pychics and historians have predicted WW3 between China and U.S.

The ONLY way for 9/11 to happen again is for a terrorist network to have a sleeper pilot. A pilot that is a leginimate member of an airline. But that is nearly impossible.

Interesting Concept... Personally, I'm more for A re-construction type of approach like this than any 'memorial garden' Definately the best of the proposals IMO so far. (tho i think the design in particular could be improved)

Looking at things logically:
1.)Shining two flashlights at the sky for the rest of eternity is a stupid solution no matter how noble or inspiring it may have been at first.
2.)The mindless pandering and use of buzz words such as "wtc, 9/11, terrorism, terror"...etc by individuals and mass media that goes on every day are much more disrespectful to the dead than a new structure could ever be.
3.)The economy is in the shitter, A project like this would not only create demand in the short term, but also a long term financial stronghold (much like the former world trade center)
4.)America could use a super-structure. Lessons learned in building such a large "new millenium" type structure would be of great value as it would test our engineering abilities among other things. Self-sufficency challenges proposed by this wtc2002 plan may push development of new structures that produce less negative impact on the environment.
5.)Massive Individual Interest in such a project would help fund the project much like the 'space race' funded space missions through the apollo program.
6.)Everyone needs a little danger in their lives. Of course a new structure would have heighened security. (a forefit of our individual rights imo.. another argument alltogether) Chances are slim that an attack would be successful under new security sanctions. Take a chance, live a litte.

Anyway, thats what I think about the whole thing..
