People hate Germans in my school

Well, right before school was out (3-4 weeks before final day), our teacher did a segment on the Holocaust and how important it was to remeber the victims and such. Now, I am a German and we all know the Nazis were Germans to, but my classmates cant seem to understand that just b/c I am a German doesnt mean im a Nazi. So I got made fun of for being a "jew killer."
I wish people weren't so ignorant, just like the poor followers of the Nazis were ignorant...

Its my firm belief that such lessons, however, must be taught. There are people who say "Oh let bygones be bygones" and "forgive and forget". We should never forget the lessons history teaches us.

However, I don't think that todays generation should suffer and be hated by everyone else for what their grandfathers did. I wouldnt take it personally. People should remember, but not react.

Immaturity runs rampant in my school as well. It's mostly just kids that aren't clever enough to think up a real insult, and just call someone some racial slur.

It depends on if they are hostile or just being a jackass, I suppose.

I believe that things such as the holocaust should be taught in school, but also not to discriminate against others for discriminating, if that makes sense.

I completely agree. in essense the holocaust should be remembered and a lesson taken from it. and thats it. I have nothing against Germans, I reserve all my European discrimination for the French.

I was with my friend Matt, when these younger kids came along and said, 'Hey look, it's that Nazi kid'.

Matt wears a German war coat from WWI, before the Nazis came about. I pointed this out to them, and then asked, 'does that mean all Germans are Nazis?'

They said, 'yes'.

So I stood up and said that Hitler died about 60 years ago, which was pretty much the end of the Nazi regime, and that most Hitler supporters back then would be dead or very, very old by now, and that Germany is no longer under a Nazi totalitarian dictatorship, and asked them again ifthey still thought all Germans are Nazis.

They looked at each other as if I was stupid, and said, 'yes'.

Just do what i would do. First, tell them as if they were childs, about how not all germans are nazis. If they make fun of you and call you a nazi, that's when you beat the living hell out of them...that way, i doubt they call you that again.

It's just a suggestion, something i would do.

And, btw, Im willing to bet they aint making fun of you because you are German (unless you are REALLY from Germany and have the accent and all).
