Who else watched the AFI tribute to George Lucas?
It was pretty good.
I'm going to miss going to the theaters for a Star Wars movie.
He was a better director than I thought.
He deserves that award.
Please post what you think of him.
(Please no insults.)

Then what's the fucking point? You're not asking for people to say what they think of him, you're asking them to say only good things. Bullshit I say!
He had no writing skills without Joseph Campbell (who basically wrote all of the original Star Wars), he had not directing talent without Spielburg (who did Indiana Jones), and he got this huge fucking ego which caused him to destroy his masterpiece of the orgininal three Star Wars and write three really shitty prequels.

I saw bits, but i would have rather seen one of his movies... appreciate his work, not make him a god. Too bad episodes 7-9 won't be made by him

You do relize that George Lucas wrote 9 scripts for Star Wars movies right? Word is that He's planning an aftermath trilogy. You know, what came after the empire's destruction. Apperantly he planned on making 9 movies. I can't wait.

I apologize but it would be pointless to go
"please insult my most favorite director."
He made the prequals to let fans see what Anakin was really like before he was Darth Vader.

You have GOT to expand on this statement. All I know is that there will be episodes 7-9. Please tell more or link, please?

You are right but actually he's making them for the television.
I wish they're going to be shown on the big screen to.

I had heard that, but i wasn't sure of the time period for the series. Hopefully it will be decent. A transition from movie to tv show is a big one. And they usually fail

He didn't decide to "fail his life".
He's going back to making movies the way he did before.

good movies: Star was IV,V,VI,III. Indian Jones 1, 2. American Graffiti.
bad: star wars I, II. Indian Jones 3. American Graffiti 2.
well, his good outweigh the bad, so i guess he's a good director. he wants to do Indian Jones 4, and re-release all the star wars in 3D, 1 per year. if he's not dead after that, then who knows? maybe he'll start a whole new space opera trilogy, or something like it.

Yeah. He does deserve an award. I didn't really think episodes 1 and 2 were that bad. They just weren't as good as eps 3, 4, and 5. A good way of saying it is that.. Michael Jordon was probably a good baseball player, but he was so good at basketball, that noone noticed how good he was at baseball.

Wait, in that movie with Jorden and the looney toons, din't they have alot of parts with baseball and he was playing baseball?
The only cool part about 2 is the actual Clone Wars itself.
But with star wars battlefront, I can recreate that without the cheesy love scenes.

Yeah.. He actually played baseball for a few years. And those of you who are saying "What does Michael Jordan have to do with this.", I was putting it into some words. In this case it would be something like, "Episodes 1 and 2 were good movies, but episodes 4, 5, and 6 were so much better that noone liked episodes 1 and 2."

There are books out there that follow, not sure of the titles. From what i know, Luke gets his hand back, switches from good to bad, and chewy gets hit by a moon and dies. Couldn't tell you how relevant it would be to Lucas's stuff

Actually no. He did write nine scripts but he has already said that he has filmed his last star wars movie. He is working on a cartoon show but said he is done with movies.
7-9 will be done by someone else and Luke turns bad at one point...

I think George Lucas is really skillful because he managed to make 6 Star Wars movies that influence us in every way. Come on, how many times a TV show has ripped the line "Luke, I am your father", the lightsabers, or the Force? Even if you deny it, he has really made a significant tweak in our lives. For crying out loud, 99% of the population recognizes Darth Vader.
