Timothy McVeigh televised execution 2001-04-15 00:53:47 Reply

Correct me if I'm wrong but is the Timothy McVeigh execution only going to be shown to the families of the victims in the bombings?

If so- doesn't an act like this demonstrate that the death penalty in this case is an act of revenge?

Killing a man because he is a danger to society but only allowing the families of those he hurts to watch to give them "peace" sounds like revenge to me.

Yes, they are. John Ashcroft approved of it.

It's seen as comforting to the families.

Fuck this. I say, sell tickets to it! "The Man" can make billions off of this event! Think about it! Millions of people, tuning it to see the ONE AND ONLY TIMOTHY MCVEIGH, executed LIVE, on Pay Per View! Also, the needle is a boring way to do execute someone. They should do cool things, like drop him from an EP3 spyplane, or make him fight to the death with rabid monkeys.

If I were George W. Bush, I would definatly look into this surefire money-making plan!

Yes, the whole thing seems like revenge, and that's just petty. That's people though. If I were him, I'd taunt them just before I went in anyway. That would fuck with their revenge. It would be bitter-sweet then.

Doesn't this guy actually want his execution televised? I don't see that it should be censored. It's pretty fucked up. Kind of the most extreme reality TV. However, no one is forced to watch something fucked up. It's their decision. Likewise, if he's happy with it being televised, so be it.

The fact that it might be revenge for the family doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that he wanted the televised execution so he could have one last chance at fame. In a way he is using the familes to get what he wants. It makes me sick. Plus, if they can show a man die on TV, yet you can't say Fuck or Shit, that's the worst kind of hypocracy in our media today!

yeah go GCC!!! The ratings system is all BS. It's just content and not meaning. There could be a totally traumatizing movie that didn't have cuss words or porn and it would only get a pg-13 rating yet a really meaningful movie that happens to have a cuss would get R.
