About the collab threads

Making this post here to let you guys know we're going to start being a bit more strict about the surge of collabs going on in this forum.

Everyone has seen the success of the Time trials, NG Jam, Stop crying your heart out, and many others. Now all of the sudden everyone wants to have their own collab, so they can have a quick shot at getting a portal award.

Half of the time these people can't even use flash, let alone compile an effective collaboration, so we have a new rule going into effect here:

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY FLASH IN THE PORTAL AND YOU MAKE A COLLAB THREAD, IT WILL BE LOCKED ON SIGHT.

If you can't manage to pass any flash through the portal yourself, you will not be able to create a collab

We have to start doing something about this, because people with valid flash/actionscript questions are getting sent to the bottom of the forum, in place of cool and hip new "collabs"

ALSO; please no topics complaining about collabs, and no flaming in the collab threads. We also reserve the right to lock your collab if we see that it is going nowhere and just turns into spam and/or flaming. Bans will be given accordingly

If you want to make a collab, I highly suggest practicing more with flash yourself. Try combining your own flas and linking them with buttons, to see how a collab works. Read up on some tutorials, make some good flash. Submit solo. Collabs ARE NOT your ticket to instant fame and success.

I'm right behind Shawn on this. I tend to steer clear of collab threads, but I will be paying closer attention from now on in. Deliberate flamers will be banned, and pointless/failing collabs locked or deleted.

I don't think its enough to just make a flash portal submission...a lot of people's flashes make it through, even if they suck balls. (points at the family guy music video)...

you might want to use certain score frame...like 2.7 rating or higher to be allowed a collab. that would reduce things even more.

Thank you Afro, great rule. But to make it better, have it so you can only start a collab if you have a B batting average or above, that way crappy artists can't raise their scores with other's hard work.

I have to agree here too, the flamers on the collab topics have been annoying and people with flash questions have been ignored, though I have tried to ignore the collabs and help people out as much as I can.. except for the collabs I have been interested in, mainly the Green And Black collab because we don't get enough game collabs around here!

Anyway, good luck with keeping this forum a better place Afro and Denvish.

Thats the best idea i've heard, i'm in a collab now, and i kind of regret it actually. Not many of the pepole that is in it have never released a flash before, the rest is kind of under 2 points avrege. And theres some good pepole thats gonna make this thing trough judgement, or if it even will make it to jugement before pepole is sick and tierd of collabs and sees them as free blampoints.

I've seen most of your flashs, very good 3D and very different to the usual stuff you get on here.

Lol you're good at expressing emotion from a box... but the actual animation seems a bit overrated to me.

I mean... you clicked a cube button. Cube's aren't hard to make :-P

your right, ther not hard to make; that is why I use them. but tying to get a box to show any Emo is like telling your wall to talk to you XD

I agreed to join a collab, but nothing is being done, so oh well. I am also tired of all these posts. I had to bump up my Gunslinger voice actor posts many times.

I agree with this. I see tons of these threads and they never do go anywhere but I think to completely take them off the site would be nuts. I think their should be a new category in the forum for collabs or group projects, and there all ready sort of is, the clubs and crews section.

What irks me the most is not so much that theres alot of collabs just the fact that people dont even know how to put one together... they will just come up with some random idea and will rush to their computers and get on this forum to make it into a collab. They wont mention what fps it.. what size movie it is... when its due or how to put it together.. Its just something dumb like 'lets make a movie about gnomes, on your marks... get set... go!'
Atleast ask people who've done collabs how to successfully put one together dont just go being your usual waste of a flash thread.

Yeah, the worst thing is (I haven't seen this for a while though) when newbs tell collab starters that they should be posting in the Clubs and Crews section, they don't see the difference between long-term and short-term partnership...
