Those of you who are regular to the Audio Forum have probably seen mention of changing the music that plays in the swf on the Audio Portal Front Page. Basically, liljim is happy to change/add loops to be loaded into the swf, to give other NG Audio Artists besides Paragonx9 some extra exposure. Unfortunately, no-one seems to be making any loops for use.... so here's what's needed:
Create 10-15 second snippets of music that will loop smoothly. When you export them, do so as both .wav and .mp3, 44.100Khz. Upload the .mp3 to the AP, and link it from here - and save the .wav file. When we have a few links gathered, I'll email them to liljim, and he can select ones he wants to use, whereupon we can send him the .wav files (.wavs are required, since .mp3s don't loop smoothly in Flash due to padding), and he can create the subswfs to be loaded into the main swf file.
Of course, there's nothing to stop you emailing your .mp3s direct to liljim if you think they're good enough - but it might make more sense to post them here so people can offer opinions and suggest improvements.
Unfortunately, I personally can't seem to gather the inspiration to do this myself (it doesn't help that it's VERY tricky to create 15s guitar-based samples that don't get boring after 2 loops). Hopefully I'll be able to do something soon, but in the meanwhile, it's up to you guys. I know that many of you are prolific writers/composers, so get your arses in gear and lets get this thing on the road...

If you want to know what other changes are under consideration for the AP, check the list in the first post of the Ideas for Newgrounds' Evolution Mk 2 thread.

Has anyone considered just streaming the MP3's through the swf at random? - I don't know how it's all set up but I imagine it wouldn't take too much to generate a random link to a random artists track and just stream it through...
Or even just a select few tracks from certain artists. - You know - create an XML with all the info - parse it into arrays then get the length, generate a random number and off we go... Whole thing would take less than a second and the XML itself would be small enough to have a negligible impact on bandwidth...
This could satisfy everyones request for different music as well as give the AP a little more variety - perhaps even add a button somewhere with a "you're listening to..." blurb beside it.
But as I've said a million times befre... That's just my opinion and I'm often wrong...
Thanks Guys!

Read liljim's comments in this thread for more info. The music loops are currently embedded in subswfs, which are loaded into the main swf using loadMovie. He stated that this is for filesize reasons, for the sake of dial-up users. I don't know about XML, so you'll have to take that up with James himself.

If people can't create wavs, I'll be happy to convert from .mp3 and trim the padding. For the moment, though, it doesn't really matter.

well teh onyl way that is getting chosen if a gun is poitned to liljim's head and the guy is tell him to put it on. Or he has to be really stoned
It does have a score of 4.50 with 12 dl so I gess it doing pretty good but I will be expecting the zero voters soon so no biggy.

OK I forgot about the four loops that I made for my 7 Kisses Flash. And I cropped a 14s lump out of my Spook tune. Please tell me which of these (if any) would be suitable for the Audio FP.
2 guitars & bass (15s)
Quick Fruity thing (15s)
Distorted guitar, Fruity drums (12s)
Descending guitar, bass & tap-dancing monkey (10s)
Syncopation: loop from Spook (14s)

Anyone else got any potential loops for the AP Front Page?
If not, I'll send these links over to James and see what he has to say. In the meanwhile, keep 'em coming

I'm just gona email mine to him. I'd rather put the full songs on my AP page rather than the loops which are based on full songs and make Tom delete them later.
1 loop will by from my To The Dark Side song the other from a song I have not put on here yet.

Here is a link to a loop I did that I believe to be fairly good:
Jonh2o - Loop
This is the only song I have a .wav to provide (it loops better than what is submitted).
Enjoy.

I'm just curious how this whole thing is gona work. I sent liljim an email with my loops days ago and have not gotten a responce, even though on another response he said no one ever emails him. He probably is congested with emails. Not trying to sound bad just wondering when the loop thing will get put into effect.

Well, I was going to compile a list of submitted loops and email it to James, but since all the loops are linked from this thread, I'll just send him the link to this topic and ask him to check it out at some point, when he can spare the time. It might take him a while to actually put them to use, though.

People will be looking for something extremely catchy, all you really need is bass and some beats.

not really - I could makea kickass celtic loops with NO beats and NO bass and itd still be catchy - but yes the keyword is "catchy"..
