Why there is no edit button.
Quoted from Ross on the Old BBS:
"I'm still not convinced that an "edit" feature is worthwhile. It allows too much flip-flopping of opinion; I like the sence of permanence that comes with hitting "Post it". There are certain things that, in my mind, shouldn't have an "undo" feature, and a message board is one of them. It encourages people to choose their words carefully and take responsibility what they say, instead of living fast and loose with the knowledge that they can fix it later."

Maybe.. but I HATE spelling mistakes, especially when i make them, and itd be nice to fix them. Also Ill screw up something in a past post, and rather than just being able to fix the post, I have to make another.. Also there is no preview mode, and if there is an error I can't go back and fix it, it erases all that I typed.. There is so much wrong with this BBS.

Just proof-read what you typed before posting it.

Can’t you just make it so you can only edit it until someone else replies to it? That way you can’t go back I mean what if you forgot something or the link or sourced pic doesn’t work? Then you have to post over again just to get it to work......... It can pe a pain sometimes. I poof read almost all my posts and when I make a minor mistake I just let it go but there are other reasons to have it.

Actually I wish that there was a pull-down menu to jump to other parts of the BBS on all the BBS pages. That way you wouldn’t have to go to the BBS main page just to switch forums. It would be good for high traffic times.

if ngbbs had all/most of the tools that a proboards forum does, BUT with the same style and class as this bbs,i think it wud b a lot better, all accept the edit button,
i think that an edit capability b4 any1 replies is a gret idea tho!

yes, that would be good. But this would might lead to some ppl reading it and then change it and mislead other ppl. But that problem is minimal.
What if someone quoted what you wrote and while he/she replied to that, the author edited the post...
I am not for an edit button.

You have just stolen the words directly out of my mouth! I was about to type the same thing. BTW, I hate making grammar mistakes too. They make me sound like a moron. It would be great if I could edit my mistakes before the "grammar police" people find out.

I'm gonna kill whoever decided not to allow an edit button. What if you try to make a logical point, and you make a spelling error or two, or forget to add something? Then you look like an idiot which could have been fixed easily with an EDIT BUTTON.
As for "flip-flopping opinions", when people flip flop, they post AGAIN, not edit a post no one will read again because it's an old post.
People are so dumb these days...
