Uh... I went to the official site, and it says that it is still not shareware on the download page.

"License

REAPER is not free. Be sure to purchase a license if you use it past the evaluation period. The full license agreement will be presented to you when you run the installer."

http://reaper.fm/download.php

And on the KVR page, it still says it costs money.

Just think how advanced NG will be a year or two from now. The chat thing will probably up, hopefully the NG Magazine comes back, plus this Radio, the Tank Awards. I just can't wait for these days.

I only just reinstalled it onto my computer, I've actually used it a fair bit over the past few days, now that I can be bothered to actually do stuff with it.

I'm Thinking of getting Cubase 4 sometime soon. Even though I've had (and still do to a degree) a deep hate for somputer music Programs...I figure i should try it out, I always thought the programs just had some sort of Chord/Key generator which allowed for every key to be in the correct key even htough you may hit the wrong note. Always pissed me off, and the fact that technology allows people to make better music than my cocky self. I figure I'll just take my 80key Keyboard and turn it into an 80key Midi Controller (all I need is a USB cord) . For me It'll be the best of both worlds.

On the subject of tank awards, pessimism at it's finest. Also, pessimism at it's finest II.

People can be so fucking stupid. I wanted to post something in pigpens news spot, but it's not like anything you say can get through to people like that.

Way to miss the point of his argument. He's not hating on the awards, he saying that few really ORIGINAL submissions were there, just spinoffs. And to tell you the truth, I agree. PigPen, however, was just being an asshole.

After a year at art school, I feel that attempting to be truly original is a futile effort. It just isn't possible. We're all guilty of using other people's techniques or ideas. W all have influences. We all use the same tools. If he really wanted to express himself in an original and unique way, he would have to leave earth and discover art somewhere else. Bitching and moaning about originality is always going to be hypocritical.

I didn't miss the point of his argument. Hell, I half agree with it. Dues ex might not have deserved the spot as compared to a few gems that slipped. I just feel really offended by his narrow mindedness towards the situation. The title of his post is "ass awards" for example. That would demean all the subs to shit, including the good ones. A better title would have been "offended by dues ex, the stick sub and a few other cartoons."

To quote what he said "Yeah, well feel free to bitch and moan all you want to. None of that is going to change my opinion."

Sorry Nav, but I don't he he wants to be misconstrued.

Oh yeah, way to rip off the aliens, asshole!
If you create something revolutionarily original, the chances are that it'll be rejected because it's too unfamiliar (eg. The Rite of Spring). Isn't life ironic?
Originality and unoriginality are the same thing. You try to go out on a limb, you're not the first to do so. You embrace popular ideologies with open arms, where most people wear these ever changing values on their sleeves. Some people you can never please, others can find fascination in watching a condensation droplet form and slide down the outer side of a glass jug of water. I fit in the second category. And I'm proud of it.

Well, I can see that he is doing that in the title, but his tone seemed more annoyed than anything else. Whatever, its just semantics. Either way, he has a problem with the current system, and there's nothing WE can do about it.

It depends on your definition of Art.

As for the dilemma of originality in art, I will use the whole of cinema as an example, a film that has been declared "original and inspiring", can also be praised for "being in it's own world". That is, a work is so thought out, so developed, so well rounded, that from the writing down to the minute technical detail it took to depict it, was consistently captivating and compelling.

If you're wondering how any individual could be this good, in any field, in any sense, it's because it appeased them. It merely starts out with an obsession.

(Which I might add, "cultivating inherent creativity in our youth" that's boasted by today's educational hipsters is a nice little touch to our "humanity", but like any other passion, some people more then others will embrace it passionately and eventually succeed in making something original, as opposed to the adolescent myspace poems and anti-war/anti-bush paintings.)

The title of his post is "ass awards" for example. That would demean all the subs to shit, including the good ones. A better title would have been "offended by dues ex, the stick sub and a few other cartoons."

A person slenderized a group of works, under a shitty, self-important, self-appointed awards system? Why the hell should that affect you? Or your concept of art? It's not only not your work, if you admire it, whether or not it garners appropriate praise from the masses should be irrelevant.

alright, I've been meaning to make a long post for ages now, gday
