the only reason that we have an audio advertisements thread is so we can post our adverts there. it has nothin' to do with tryin' to keep the "listen to my shit" topics down that are posted by noobs. it's for our benefit, not the neat and tidyness of the audio forum.

No, it's not because they're there, it's how they got there. Each thread started as a propostion to "reduce clutter" (Note, this is initial, nobody sat down and said "HMM, let's reduce the amount of spam in the lounge by 15%") and "redirect" people to not be shitheads and Make their own threads. Not just not post in the lounge.

Nobody reads that unless they know the artist. Advertisements get burried until someone gets in a good mood which isn't very often.

it would be just as easy to tell somebody that made their own advert thread that it's against the rules of this forum to do so, as it is to tell them to post their advert in the advert thread. thus, proving that the advert thread is not needed but that it's solely there because we want a place to advertise our new tracks.

They're called exceptions. Posting your advertisement isn't spamming, posting it over and over and over everywhere is. Having your posting record and reason for the BBS to be spam and advertisements is a contradiction in of itself. You ARE in a spammer in this case. You DO break the rules in this case. If the purpose of the lounge, which has it's own purpose seperate of spam, is to spam, then the rest of the forum can be spammed if you use that logic.

This forum is in pretty much another dimension for the mods, which is why they were never here. They didn't know how to enforce the rules they knew about in a forum that had several different purposes. Only now to say, "Hey, no spam, in those areas you know not to".

Not:
"BANANAS, CAKES, MUFFINS, LOLZER AND SDGSAFGN".
