how many audio forum admins does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
would it be alright to make 5's be more powerful then 0's?
are prank phonecall sunmissions acceptable?

1) usually.
2)only if you vote it before anyone else has - let other ppl vote 5 and then rate it when its downrated to hell.
3)who cares - they can bite me for all i care.
4)20 - 5 to write the usless computer program, one to stand on top of the computer, 4 to turn the table and the other 10 to mill about uselessly doing nothing of value. Ohhhh...
5) I would then se a lotta useless songs being 5 and never going away. Sometiems a good clearing out of songs is necessary? Dont go the reverse way now lol. Also its all mathematic really. 0 scores just lower the average more than 5s raise it.
6) no.
7) who GIVES A SHIT. Paragon is just a guy that makes commercial music. Stop hyping him and czer up. Sheesh...

The audio portal will always be alive and kicking providing I'm around to poke it occasionally and to keep everyone nervous, edg, and on their toes!

Yeah, it needs more regulars
firwst off, is being an audio whore wrong?
Not really
is voting 5 on your own songs bad?
No
do mass 0 voters have lifes?
Yes. I personally think most of them are other audio artists - ones who don't like competition.
how many audio forum admins does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

would it be alright to make 5's be more powerful then 0's?
No
are prank phonecall sunmissions acceptable?
No
whos the next paragonx9???
Whoever convinces the admin to promote their audio by putting it on the main Audio page
The thing about the last one is this: if enough of you guys got together and created decent 10-20 second loops, there's a good chance that liljim would use them (assuming the production was professional). So, have a go... create a new topic for it if you want, and link your loops in it. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but what have you got to lose?
I was going to do a few loops myself, but just haven't got round to it. Also, creating a good short guitar-based loop that doesn't sound boring after 10 repeats is pretty tricky.

Correction - the audio portal needs ANY advertisements - any at all!
We don't have a single one. More people dont come here because a link at the top of the page on the main page isnt enough to make people realize that we actually exist.
You need an ad somewhere on the MAIN page for the audio portal - or else no new people are really going to bother.

Exactly the reason why I quit uploading tracks. The only way to get more downloads is to spam around so people will listen 10 seconds to your music. My last (and imo best) track got a huge amound of 5 downloads. I kinda lost the fun in making new tracks anyway.
I really hope the audio portal will be a cool place for audio artists someday!

i have come up weoth some brilliant ideas for audio portal advertisement-
i think that there shoulod be maybe an extra bar on every flash page, that is just like the button at the top of the audio portal page, yet instead of playing the same music, various artists can submit a 10 second or so loop of any of there songs(1 per artist at any time though), and on the pages that will have this new bar, it will randomly select 1 of the loops, and right above it there could be a link to that artists page, this way artists cNan get exposure and maybe MANY downloads-
also we need mass zero voter hunter downers...

also on the main audio page, instead of playing just paras songs, any artist can submit a short loop, and the audio portal main page would play randomly generated ones, and provide a link to the artist with the music thats playing

Wrong. The games and toons index pages each regularly have well over 300,000 hits to them every day, whereas the audio portal index page only gets around 10,000 hits - despite being right next to both the flash portal and audio portal links. The people don't visit the audio portal because they're more interested in the games and toons in the site than they are on the audio on the site.
The Flash Portal pages all link back to the individual pages in games and toons where related collections are involved, but they're all linked back to audio entries that are used in those Flash Portal pages as well, so there's no real argument there for audio portal entries getting less attention than related collections. In fact, the audio links appear above related collection links.
Your focus should shift from, "No-one goes to the audio portal" to, "Why don't people go to the audio portal?" - and I should be shifting some focus into generating more incentives for flash artists to use audio portal submissions, but I just don't have too much time to devote to that at the moment, since the audio portal contributes (in total) to 0.003% of the site's traffic.
I can always put new ideas on a to-do list, but I don't see anything that's worth putting on the to-do list too regularly from the audio portal people. Most of the stuff I see as being suggested is, "The audio portal doesn't get enough traffic" (which is more or less what you've written, and doesn't help anyone).
What you also need to keep in mind is that the flash portal (as long as flash is a medium) will always be more dominant than the audio portal, in that people predominantly come to Newgrounds to watch the Flash on here. It wouldn't matter if we just closed the index page of the site off with a "Here's the audio portal!" image and link - people would just close the browser window, because they come here expecting to see funny animations.
Stop concentrating on the negative and start concentrating on positive ways to get more people into the audio portal - short of just closing the rest of the site off, of course.
And... Having people posting in the audio forum just for the sake of posting in the audio forum wouldn't be a good thing. It just means you have more shit to wade through before you reach any relevant stuff. There's enough of that going on in the general forum.

Those files are embedded in the swf files themselves, to prevent long download times. I've always said that if people submit decent-scoring submissions that are around 10 seconds long to the audio portal, to e-mail me with the links to them and I'll consider them for inclusion. Of course, no-one does e-mail me about any of that stuff. They just moan about it in the forums instead. :)

no not really...
is voting 5 on your own songs bad?
it brings some amount of attention... I click my five after it disappears from the new submissions list.
do mass 0 voters have lifes?
just because they have nothing better to do... my newest went from 4.5 to 3.5... with no reviews to explain why that was.
how many audio forum admins does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
as many as there is needed to type in the top 5 weekly
would it be alright to make 5's be more powerful then 0's?
that's the general idea.
are prank phonecall sunmissions acceptable?
as long as it's edited to bleep out the names and such, it's cool with me.

In my head I pronounce Bjra as Bajara. If you made it your name, you could make the 'J' a scimitar.
The audio forum isn't dead, not only do few people visit the NG BBS, and hardly post, but there just isn't any interest to chit chat or ask questions.

not true. I, and other artists emailed you a bunch of like 10 second long loops for evaluation. I would just like to point out that you never did email me back. I know you're busy and all but a statement like that just isnt true. If you want me to send you more loopables ill be glad to - but i still want feedback about what was wrong with the ones i already DID send you - so I can know what to improve.
You also claimed back then that not only does the song have to be approved by you - it has to practically be approved by every other higher up person on newgrounds. Does this still apply?
now if you respond and ask me to send you an email with more links then I will. Otherwise ive just been submitting 10 second loopables to my audio page for nothing..

If I didn't reply, chances are I never got the e-mails. I only ever recall getting one e-mail with a loop in it and that was embedded in a swf file itself, that was of completely different format to that of the audio portal animation. Even though I'd asked for the loops, not for the loops to be embedded in an swf file. I replied to that e-mail and the reply bounced back to me.

I actually enjoy doing loops, which most of my songs consist of. I don't like making smaller ones though, but it's a nice idea to do. when do we get to start?

hehehe, i think newgrounds could use more contact options. im thinking that there should be maybe "Audioportal@NG.com" or something along those lines, we wont need a new admin, that will just be a way for us to get action faster-
also, there should be fanmail@ng.com, so then the admins emails wont be filled with fanmail so that way our emails will be answered even faster,
finally, i think all the ng email boxes should be fitted with perhaps a system so that the admins can go through there email, and any spam they recieve, they can mark the email adreess as spam, so the email will be used only for ng help, except for the fanmail folder, though, fans can spam qll tghey want-
this will help get our quesries answered faster as well as make the admins lifes easier, and make it so we wont have to wait forever to get stuff donwe on the audio poral!
