Use the paintbrush instead of the pencil.

Try using the rectangle tool, that gives you a straight line and you can make it as fat as you want.

at the bottom of the screen, there should be a properties thing. change the number (it should be a 1) thats next to the line thign that says solid and change that number to a bigger number for a bigger line

if the properties thing is not there, hit ctrl+F3 to make it show

Also i think if you hald the Shift Key it will make it so that it will go in a straight line.

Straight lines only go up to 10, they don't get any bigger than that!

Make rectangle with no lines around it and make sure the corner radius is set to like 50. Then it should look like a thick line.

Just use the transform tool. If you hold shift it will use the same proportions, but if you just drag it sideways it'll get you a fatter line.

Ok, just do this: draw a SMALL stick guy with line thickness 10. then make it into a movieclip, and resize the movieclip on the stage so that it is the size of the rest of your guys. The lines will get bigger as he does, and wont stay at size 10. With this method you can get any line thinknes you need. You'll have to animate him inside his movieclip, but thats how Dim and I animate anyway, its a better way.

Well I have a couple of ideas for your problem:

1) If you absolutely must have it done with lines; zoom in and make them with the proportions you want, but smaller, convert the pieces to graphics and then scale them accordingly.

2) Simply use the line tool to draw your lines, then Modify > Shape > Convert Lines to Fills.

I hope these are useful suggestions.
