I think it has to do with most people probably dont know wtf New Zealand is.

I dont hate New Zealand! Hell, Im not even sure where that is.... Northwest of Australia right?

EVERYBODY I know in NZ boils their water in an aluminium pot smaller than the electric stove-top ring thus wasting huge amounts of energy - and of course without a lid. I have repeatedly seen kettles boil dry before my flaky host says 'don't worry 'bout it mate, I'll just do it again'.

EVERYBODY I know in NZ grills their toast under the overn grill, thus wasting huge amounts of energy and burning a lot of toast 'cause you 1930's oven doesn't pop-up!

EVERYBODY I know in NZ does the washing up with copiuous amounts of detergent and just dumps them all on top of each other on the bench without a draining rack. Detergent is made from mineral oil and is a poison!

EVERYBODY I know in NZ hangs a plastic bag over a cupboard door handle for a rubbish bin. Duh!

I was staying with a bunch of New Zealanders around Xmas and when I decalred I was going to make pasta, somebody genuinely asked me 'what's pasta'? When I boiled the water and pulled out wholemeal spaghetti and home-made green pesto, someone said laughingly 'Oh, you realy are going to make pasta'! - as if pasta was 'posh'!

I threw a party at my brother's house and declared I would clean the toilet before my guests arrived. The toilet was sticky with urine, had a ant trail, dead spiders and menstrual blood on the floor. My brother's wife volunteered to clean it but intended to just 'spray and wipe' the loo seat. She was quite shocked to see that I had already doused it with boiling soapy water!

And my pet hate of New Zealanders is the way they keep their dogs! Multiple dogs cruely kept in kennels 23 hours a day and suffering from A.D.D. and malnourished 'cause they're fed on corn flakes and dog biscuits for life! I know dickheads who take their mentally disturbed mutts hunting but the main objective is not to kill a pig for food, but rather to video the kill. They go back to their furnature free houses and watch the violence repeatedly - sick. I know of an incedent where two of these 'farm dogs' stalked and killed another neighbour's dog! Beasts!

And have you ever checked the New Zealand music scene? It's laughable. In 2003 when visiting NZ, someone said to me 'we've got rap music in New Zealnd now'! Ha Ha hahahahahahah!

I could go on - actually I will... New Zealands recent political election was hung for a week before the existing government were re-elected. Can you belive that 49% of voters actually backed Don Brash's bid to end the Nuclear exclusion zone established by former prime minister, David Lange in the 1980's?

Honestly, everything you just said sounds maybe like living inside a flat, or an average household. Americans and europeans and australians aren't all rich and living the fancy life. only rich people can afford 'posh' things, surprisingly. I doubt this only occurs in New Zealand.

Honestly, get a life. there is no good reason to hate new zealand. It has pros and cons, and so does everything else.

Dude, i think joey was being sarcastic, the way he pointed out that new zealand is a knock off of another place that is a knock off of the states which was probably a knock off of...something else...maybe Norway culture and lifestyle.

But heck, we need to learn to get along with Australia. I mean, sure we use some of their stuff, like tv shows...but that is nothing compared to how many shows and clothes and nick nacks we get from global giants such as china and america.

Because there's nothing to do there, the technology sucks and movies and games are released ages after everywhere else.

I live in NZ and, well, basically it has the same tech as anywhere else. Its pretty much just like any other civilised 1st world country ('cept for a few cultural differences. and the fact we didn't join the "invade iraq" band wagon) I really hate how people percieve that we are all poor or something.

America seems to me like a hell scary place to go.
