Any software is efficient if you use it correctly. With personal preference, you can get something close to proffesional around 50-60 bucks.

I've heard fruity loops is in a similar type of software to reason, and is less than a hundred, though i dont know any prices for it, just that its many times cheaper than reason.
Latest version is FL5.

Ya but just the save is disabled - most ppl dont go back to their old songs anyways so just create and export the song!

Well, I've been told Fruity Loops is a good program to learn the basics on, and u can also create professional sounding stuff on it, depending on your own abilties. Reason is way better, far more versatile, the new prodigy album was written entirely using reason3. (apart from the mastering that is). U can get ure hands on free cracked versions of cubase sx and Fruity Loops quite easily, u just gotta use some shareware progs like limewire and find someone with them, keep on browsing the internet, the free progs are there, u just have to find the bastards.

I use acoustica mp3 mixer to lay my tracks down but you really need a seperate wave editor to get full use out of your recordings you can get it from www.acoustica.com
and it's a 30 dat trial, then search some site like google for a wave editor and keygen's
to kill the evaluation, that way you can be a tight ass with your money and spend it all on more valluable stuff like going to the pub after making a killer track...

Similar in the fact they both make music, apart from that, they're almost completely different in the production process. Reason tends to be more medolic, with raw composition being the key factor to a successful track, while fruityloops is more mixing, making smaller parts of songs and sequencing them together.
Fruityloops is a lot cheaper, and very easy to learn, so i'd reccomend it for the newer peeps, and with the right work, can make amazing stuff.
