Well this is a bit of bullshit. Last night a couple of friends and I wanted to play Halo 3. I decided this would be a good time to try out the multiplayer disc that comes with ODST which contains all the maps plus the 3 new ones. I pop it in, the disc doesn't read. I eject, pop it in again, still doesn't read it. I then proceeded to take out the disc and glanced at the back of it to see if their were any scratches. There's a ring carved into the disc from the Xbox 360. I never even got to play the game! My brother was the one playing the disc so he could play online.
I called up Microsoft, told them my problem, gave them all my information and this is a bit frustrating. The guy was nice and helpful but he couldn't find the exact link I needed to fill out the return paper. I found it before he did but didn't say anything because it was a bit entertaining having him tell him go through all these hoops when I just googled it. So eventually I just humor him and say whatever he told me to do worked (which it didn't, error happened) and said "I'm now at the page but the replacement paper says it wants my credit card number, is this going to charge me?" he responded "Oh no, no, no, it is free of charge, we will replace it for free no worries". I asked him "Are you sure, I don't want to be charged for a disc that I just payed for and is not my fault it is ruined". So he says hold on I'll check and then comes back and says that there is only a small charge for the incoming shipment. Outgoing it will be free of charge or something like that. It looks like to me on the paper is says it is going to charge me $20 for this and I just said ok thank you and hung up.
I'm still not sure if I'm going to send it back. The game is brand new, no other games have been scratched, the console is pretty new, and I didn't damage the disc, the console did. Why should I have to pay for the replacement disc?
TL;DR: Xbox 360 scratched my disc, Microsoft wants me to pay, fuck that.
