I am going to assume that what you said means what I think it means.
I don't feel at all sorry for kids growing up with newer consoles. The only reason I look back on the games of my childhood with such fondness is because of nostalgia, despite the fact that they are in almost every way inferior to modern games.
When kids of today grow up, they're going to look back at today's games with the same fondness, despite the fact that Virtual Holospace raiders IX is almost undoubtedly going to be superior.
The only thing that modern kids are lacking are cute and cuddly animal mascots. Although I was fond of Spyro and Crash, I really grounded myself more in RPG territory when I was a wee-un. Come to think of it, modern kids are seriously lacking in good JRPGs. They will never have the Final Fantasy VII experience that I had when I was a child.
