well if you are looking that those two in perticular, i would have to say it would be what kind of mood i am in. If im in the mood for old school and simple minded but challenging i would go with AH but if i want to blow the crap out of my buddies or random people online then is Halo all the way. So when it boils down to it, its all about what kind of game your in the mood to play, and thats why one game can suck for some people and be the greatest thing sence videogames where invented.

Innovation, Creativity, Plot, Characters, Re-playability, Fun factor.. the list can go on and on. What I usually look for in my games is more creativity/originality than anything else. It's something I find most games lack now-a-days.

heres the break down from the game critic!!
first the game has to have a decent storyline like final fantasy's, super mario's or the legend of zelda's
second is the fun factor. is the game fun
third is the graphics. do the graphics reach out and grab you or are they hell a crappy?
fourth is the sound of it. is the music cool or shitty?
fifth is the variable factor. this is the KEY element to a video games success. this is your taste in video games. do you like action games? adventure games? love games? shooters? platformers? side scrollers? racing games? sports games? these and many more are all part of this variable factor
and halo 2 to answer your question

well , your position is questionable , one time my freinds brother had a choice between Halo and Pokemon Snap and i think you can guess which one he picked ... i guess it depends on the homosexuality of the person playing

homosexuality is also a key part of the game. depends on if you are straight, a homophobe, or a homo

to me, graphics dont mean a thing, its all about the online for me... and thats why i like counter-strike more than halo 2.
The people on CS are great but apparently in halo 2 "everyone hacks" or "youre a noob"
And about pokemon snap, its innovative, nothing really like it before. but halo 2... its just a shooter, everyone has played shooters

What if one doesn't own Halo 2? Then I guess you're stuck with playing Alien Hominid. Halo 2 is an alright game but still... I consider it not to be a good enough game to actually own... for a long period of time I might add!!!

Here's my list:

1. Gameplay: how it plays, what you can and cannot do.
ex. GTA:SA compared to Halo 2, both have different perspectives, different weapons, different vehicles, different weapons, etc.

2. Multiplayer options: Single player, Multiplayer, Internet, whether it's Pay to Play
ex. WoW compared to WC3, both have multiplayer, but one needs to pay

3. Fun factor: Is it fun?
ex. Any game compared to chess or minesweaper :P

4. Longevity: how long I'm able to play without getting bored, depends on how fun it is.
ex. A game with one plot compared to a game with multiple storylines.

5. Interactable: Is the game static, or can gamers contribute to maps, weapons, mods, etc.
ex. Halo 2 maps compared to CS maps

Things that are not as Important:

Graphics: How it looks
Sound: Soundtracks, sound effects, etc.
Characters: Main, side, etc.
Plot: Main storyline.

graphics. story. actual gameplay. controlls.

Hominid has kinda an old school feel and is easy on the brain

halo is a massive shootem up oneman army type that takes slightly more brainpower

Depends what genre the game is but there are my main:
Good multiplayer game, it makes the game last so much longer.
Fun game play, Game must have changing gameplay and some puzzles to keep player intrested
Good sounds and music: They create the mood and crappy voice actors can break it a if AK-47 sounds like some toygun that eats moof ALOT.

Graphic is not so necesary to me so game don't need to have doom3 and half Life 2 super graphic.

Originality, good story, "funness" and replayability are the most important things I think. Things like gaphics, sound and humour definitely add to a game, but they aren't really needed to be good.

I think hes quite right. We all play Pac-Man and Tetris and they are just blobs of Pixels, right? Yet we still <3 Them.

Gameplay is the key factor - no matter how good the graphics, sound and plot are.

It needs to be something that keeps you coming back for more instead of getting bored very quickly.

What makes a game worth playing, eh?

1) Originality. I don't want to play the same damn first-person shooter with a different name and better graphics every year, or the same damn football game that's essentially last year's game, with the same bugs and different stats.

2) Multiplayer options. Multiplayer isn't essential, so to speak, but it can really help.

3) Addictiveness. I don't want a game that will get old after three hours.

4) Challenge. It shouldn't be easy, but by the same token, it shouldn't be so freaking hard that I go for the Uninstall icon in disgust.

5) Lack of infestation. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do everything you can to clean your game out of its bugs before you release it. I REALLY don't want to install a game and have it wipe out my whole hard drive (a la Pool of Radiance 2).

There are many factors that make people want to play different games. None of which i will say. But the most important thing is what you feel like. Sometimes i wish to play Halo and GTA. Other times I want to play Fable or FFX. And every once in a while, I wish to play Harvest Moon.

Yeah, in my opinion, if it's a multiplayer game, it's all about the community. Games like Everquest and CS wouldn't be the same at all if it weren't for real-live people with real live feelings playing around you. Unlike with bots, ou could make real friends, demand real respect and become a real player. With bots, you can't talk or make improvements, it's just one setting! But with humans, someone will always be better than you, so you can really home your skills. Bots suck.

Story and Longevity do it for me. I play Video Games like someone would read a good book, so a decent story is pretty much essential.

god bless the final fantasies... seriosusly, god fucking bless them. I've wasted at least half my life on those games, and i wouldnt have it any other way. Whens the next one coming out ?

as a wise man once said - "i don't know whats i be doin'... "

Guns, explosions, and rag-doll physics. Like GTA, I'm more of a terrorist when I play that game.

Story is the most important thing for me. Gameplay is also just as important, and good graphics really help. I would much rather play a good game with nice graphics than a good game with shit graphics. Also, multiplayer is nice, but I prefer single player games, so this is just a cool extra.

For a game to be good it must not contain the word "FIFA" in its title.
