Office, E3, San Diego May. 9th, 2005 @ 07:25 PM Reply

I just arrived in San Diego this afternoon. I'll be out here for the next two weeks with my Behemoth homeboys trying to get some cool console stuff together to premier at Comic-con this July.

Next Wednesday (May 18th) I'll be heading up to LA for E3! I'm speaking on a panel Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:00. The title of the discussion is "Think different and (still) succeed - Finding success with games that fall outside the familiar". If you have a conference pass, come check it out in room 404AB!

I have some bad news about the Newgrounds office I was going to buy: It isn't happening. There were some hazardous materials that needed to be removed prior to settlement, but they wanted to sell it as-is. The clean-up costs would have been expensive at the least and potentially VERY expensive, so I wasn't interested in inheriting the risk. It's a real bummer after all the emotional energy and excitement I built up over the prospect of working in a real NG office and not my basement.

I'm hopeful that a better building will come along in the future. I'm expanding my search outward to Ambler and Fort Washington, although I don't want to get too far from Glenside (these are all suburbs north of Philly - trying to avoid that wage tax). If you know of any cool buildings for sale in these areas, let me know!

So... Keep an eye out for me at E3 next week and say hi!

This is the game JohnnyUtah and I have been working on.

When can we expect the Monthly Winners update Tom?

It's a damn shame about the building too, it sounded pretty cool. And you were so excited about it too! It's really too bad. I'm sure you'll find something better soon though. Good luck with that, and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures from E3!!!

Can I be an op in the chat room? just feel asking a question that I know the answer to... which is most likely... no, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Sorry to hear about the building Tom, I had a gut feeling it wasn't for you anyway. It just didn't say "NEWGROUNDS". When you find a new one and it does'nt have the right front there is still all kinds of ways to spruce it up! So chin up. The experince alone of being that close and knowing what you were going to have to do to get it up to your standards was worth it. You now have a basic idea of what a fixer upper is! Have fun on the west coast.

Hazardous materials? That's utter bullshit. You'd think they'd be required by law to clean up their own stuff. Oh well. Better luck next time.

Hope to see you at Comicon. It was packed last year like I've never seen before.
Hopefully it was just because of Angelina Jolie being there... cause I'm agoraphobic.

It does hurt to ask actually. Asking reduces your chances to zero.

That's alright, you can always find another building that isn't a potential future parking lot to move into. Wish I had a property to suggest, but alas, I live not in that area, in the slightest.

As for all the people on NG that live on the west coast in the ares surronding Los Angeles, I am very jealous. Take a bus, drive a car, ride a bike, a fucking camel, do whatever you have to, to get to E3. I would kill for the chance.

I live in Doylestown, a suburb 40 minutes north of Philidelphia. There is always some kind of office building going up for sale every week. You should check out the area, i am sure it would suit your needs.

If you read the FAQ's;

Question: "I use the chat often and i would like to know if NG will make me have op status. I know you'll end up putting this on the FAQ and i'll look like a dickhead. "

NG Response: You don't ask us for OP's, we'll ask you, and yes, you are now an official dickhead.

I don't need to tell you the answer, do I?

How dare they try to screw over the great TOM FULP! Those guys suck. I can't believe they tried to sell you a building that could potentially kill you. It really sucks that NG won't have a professional office building.

Hope you do have luck in the future Tom.
