Nice - are you still feeling the pain?

I ran half a mile last night in about 4m 20s. That's not too bad and I'm trying the 2.5 mile route tonight with my best friend.

Oh, you should, it's a great feeling - especially when you zip past a Gatso at over the speed limit and get flashed, knowing that they can't find you :P

Meh, I much prefer walking, even though it takes longer. However, if where I want to go is quite far, then I'll obviously get transport.

I don't really think I'm anything special - my pace is well worse than the 4 minute mile

You know, I've never tried. Apparently, it's different when you've got a TV stuffed under your arm :P

I find using a bicycle is much easier when traveling around town, because with my motorcycle I still have to find parking in legal spots. with a bicycle I can just ride right up to where I want to be, don't even have to follow all the roads.

Naw, wore off pretty quickly. I wasn't pushing myself massively or anything, was just cycling for the fun.

Also I love cycling, it's great.

As i type this i have my legs crossed :3

Anywhom, exams in 2 weeks, I've sort of studied for all except accounting because i failed that fucking horrible unit already. I fucking hate accounting, and goddamn if i don't pass it in summer/winter/whatever school it is during mid semester I'll be pissed.

So in my rage i decided to make my girlfriend and her friends happy, and went and picked up a Muse album, Black Holes and Revelations. The only reason i did it was because i was depressed/it was $10 :D

My school fines you $100 for parking in the wrong lot. If you park in the grounds without permission, they have it towed, charge you $300 and then make you pay for impound fees and the towing cost. The town has a few motorcycle-only spots which are free, but they are a little ways from campus, but what I'm saying is that, I find if I'm in and around town, a bicycle is more convenient.

Yeah, my boss doesn't object to me putting my bike in the office when I ride it in - it's cheaper than paying for parking passes at the local council run car park all the time, I suppose.

far more dangerous than a car in any type of accident event, but there are things you can do to avoid injury if it occurs. First and foremost is taking proactive steps to avoid an accident from happening. Wear brightly colored clothes so that other see you, do not assume people in cars do see you, even when you get eye-contact, they may still not register you as there or moving. Drive defensively and follow speed limits and right of way laws. Wear proper protective clothing. DOT approved Helmet (with at least 3 square inches of reflective patches/stickers), protective pants and jacket (with reflective material!!), gloves, and proper boots that go above the ankle. Eye protection of some sort.

common sense goes a long way.

They really are, I was about 8 years old when my dad and I were driving on a fast road, his truck started fucking up and then it stalled. The guy driving behind us was too close to our vehicle, and also going to fast, and... he was on a motorcycle.

You guessed it I'm sure, he hit the back of our truck, and literally... He went flying in the air, a bunch of ambulance had to come and police, etc. It was super terrifying at that age. He survived, but really, I don't think he's going to be driving a motorcycle anymore.

I personally think motorbikes are sweet, I'd love one, but if I wanted to carry my guitar stuff around, then its not very practical.

That and my lack of ability to grow a Hell's Angel esque beard :(.

I wouldn't ride a road bike. Dirt bikes for sure. The amount of 'holy shit I'm gonna die' i felt when i took my bike for a spin up the road and back was enough to scare me out of even thinking of getting my motorbike license. I'll stick to the dirt tracks and all. You're too exposed out on the road, that's about the only problem :/ and I've fallen off my bike going at a reasonable speed, and thankfully on grass, I'd hate to slide along tar for a few metres :/

Were you wearing full leathers though?
Cause obviously thats going to give you protection from the slidey bit.

And unless you get into a head on collision or something your head isn't going to take too much of a battering. As you're on two wheels the sliding is going to be the main consequence, and I reckon the helmet will protect any possible head damage there, unless you're going at a ridiculous speed.

If you're sensible and cautious, I can't see it being any worse than a car.

I personally love motorbikes. I used to have one when i was 18. A small bike, but it was still pretty fast. I had a couple of incidents on it.....none my fault, and the worst i've got was a scrapped arm. I was lucky i guess.

I'm driving down a straight road minding my own business, when some car pulls out of a petrol station. I guess he didn't see me, or thought he could make it own before i arrived, but no. I hit the brakes, but couldn't stop in time and hit the front side of his car. I flew off....not that far, but still got hurled off the bike.
The guy aknowledged it was his fault and was actually a nice guy, he offered to take me to the hospital, but i only had a few scratches. Anyway, he took me right then at that moment to a local garage and told the guys to fix my bike up (it only had a few scratched and broken panels, and a broken clutch lever) and paid for it all. So atleast i didn't get some bastard trying to avoid paying out or something.

But that's not put me off bikes. I'm looking to get my full bike license next year, and sometime in the future maybe get a noice bike....R6 or something of the likes.

I ride with my soccer shorts, a t-shirt, running shoes, and an old helmet :3 I don't have any other safety gear other then my helmet. Nonetheless, ever since the accelerator cable on my bike got destroyed, i haven't touched my bike since :(
