smc, I resent you comment in the Hentai Crew. You accuse me of posting for the sake of boosting my post count, when you yourself made FOUR posts in there, none of which were constructive. You said:
"Needs rules and I better structure.
Plus I think this has been done before, but I can't find it."
Rules and structure? Rules and fucking structure? You seem to be missing the glaring emission from the thread rules that is the SECOND RULE UNDER "THE BIG ONES". >:(
"Posting pornographic (including cartoon porn)..."
Are you as dense as a brick? I suggested that the thread should go rot in hell, because even with rules and structure, god knows what shitfucks like you mean when you say "rules and structure", how the fuck would that make a thread where people discuss hentai with glee and abandon be anything less than a cesspool of faggotry is beyond me. You can enjoy hentai. Fuck, I enjoy hentai. I would not, however, make a crew about it, because there is so little to discuss? "Hey guys, lets list our favourite hentai sites! Lets list our favourite hentai mangas! Lets list our favourite hentai.... uhh... sites?" It'd be thousands upon thousands of pages of A FUCKING BROKEN RECORD.
But never mind that. My beef isn't with the thread. I wouldn't make it, nor contribute to it, but that's not my issue here.
My issue is you.
Don't for one minute think I mean just you, there are a fair few people who do it. But I'm picking on you, because I can.
I mean, in the World In Conflict Clan, you posted "....But this needs rules, man.". Life-Stream hastily posted a set of rules, fair enough, but do you know what?
None of them are allowed anywhere on the BBS.
There was no point to that post. All his post said was "dont playa hait, dont spam, and dont post porn"... YOU CAN'T DO THAT ANYWHERE IN THE BBS, SO THE WORLD IN CONFLICT CLAN DOES NOT NEED THEM BEING RE-HASHED.
Now, I can appreciate that certain clubs need rules, like the Elite Guard you need to have an 'Elite' level of blams/saves... but not everywhere does. A place like this doesn't have rules, the more informal lounge style clubs don't have rules, why? Because they don't need to. If you're not mature enough to follow the rules in C&C, you aren't mature enough to follow the rules anywhere, and quite honestly, should be banned.
Structure. Structure, structure. structure, structure, structure. Say it enough, and the word falls apart in your head. Now, what structure do you picture? I can appreciate some threads have detailed member lists and rankings, but some do not. Are these bad threads? No, they're just different threads. Take the NG Mafia for example. I used to be a member, until I quit when they refused to let an intelligent, active level 3 (who didn't deposit) join because they weren't a high enough level, although the Mafia was all social roleplaying, and nothing about experience. Anyway, I've never much cared for them since, but look at their first post. No rules. Very minimal structure. By the time I joined, there was plenty of structure and rules, like the level rule, you had to choose a section to join, etc, etc. Sometimes it's best just to experiment with what fits, to let the thread evolve as it grows.
Sure, there may be some disadvantages to not having an explicit list of how to handle the thread on the first page, but all that I can think of involve people looking to join that club, and if they haven't read the last few pages, well, even then, I'm sure some member would be more than happy to help them out and offer some tips and hinters.
Okay, so, I appreciate where you're coming from with your generic "rules and structures" posts, but that's only half of my beef with you. The other issue I have is what a post like that does to the general aura of a thread. Lets assume that someone makes a club with a poor first post (like pretty much every old club, take a look in some of them and baulk at how poor their first posts are... "omg i like [topic] if u like [topic] join up". Now, I appreciate, that looks a bit awkward, but those topics have become big and lasted several years and for all purposes have been succesful... now, what if the second post is essentially saying "I think this thread sucks"? It makes the thread look cheap and shoddy, even if since the first page it's mutated into something more complex and intricate than you could possibly imagine? Your post just brings down the thread.
Rargh.
TLDR: You guys are less helpful than windows errors, and far less imaginative.
Go die quietly somewhere.
