It takes forever to watch all the submissions!

And it's horrible having to pick just 5 of them!

Aww, I wish I could have picked more of them. It's hard narrowing it all down to just three considering a lot of them were really good. :'(

This is a little sad for me. I only seen like twenty of the movies there (including games). I managed to choose five. This is my third time doing this and I'm happy.

My votes are in. I hope the one that I voted for 1st place..wins 1ST PLACE. This is a great idea because it rewards those hard working artists. Now they have something to strive for besides front page.

Top 2000 active users? Bah, I really have to try and be on Newgrounds at 9PM GMT and after, but my sister is on at that time. :S But I still want to see who wins this time, though.

Hello, seeing as I wasn't active this month, cuz I've been working on The Adventurous Adventures of Buttlock all month, I don't get chosen to cast my vote - Can anybody please tell me if Butlock is up for this month's vote, or will it be put into the next month's?

Thank you, and happy voting!

Maybe you had an error like Sinterkaas did? With the duplication of entries? Try closing the window, reopening it from your GroundsGold Menu's link, and then select the five movies again.

At 5/1/05 01:39 PM, frostedmuffins wrote: There is a problem!!! I got my game on the front page the first of April and I didn't get thing that says I can vote! Please fix it.

Your game is indeed in the frontpage archive and it's listed there as (4/1)... so it's not like it was frontpaged on 3/31 (and thus would have been in the voting last month... and so would your voting opportunity). I'm not sure why it's not on the listing, perhaps it's a glitch.

You should contact the admins, as you have two valid concerns (more that your movie isn't on the voting list than that you yourself can't vote).

At 5/1/05 01:42 PM, Newenglishgentry wrote: STOP SHOWING US WHOM YOU VOTED FOR. PLEASE

Tom's never said not to, and this is the third month the voting process has gone on... I don't think there's anything wrong with people showing who they voted for. Anyone who's sheep enough to vote based on what other BBS users voted for... isn't going to be voting very well anyway, so perhaps its best to let them "copy off another's notes," as it were.

At 5/1/05 04:35 PM, Evark wrote: I actually agree with you. I was weary of this idea at first, and it still hasn't shaken itself completely from me, but I do think that showing who you voted for is generally not something you should do. People should make their decisions based on their own thoughts on the flashes, and I think showing who you voted for influences the voting.

What difference would it make whether everyone could vote or not? If everyone could vote, alt-accounts-just-for-the-purpose-of-swaying-the-monthly-vote would be a problem.

In any event, despite what I said to Newenglishgentry, I don't like to post my votes in the monthly vote topic right away. The past two months, I've posted it after the voting was supposed to be over (on the 4th), but both times the voting's been extended due to Tom's busy schedule and all... we'll see what happens this week.

Point is, I see nothing wrong with sharing the screenie of the movies/games I voted for, but I won't do so at this point in the process, even if I *HAD* already voted (and I haven't. I tend to vote on the 3rd or 4th, as I like to take my time contemplating all the options on the list). How's that for a compromise/best-of-both-worlds solution?

At 5/1/05 06:58 PM, -REMOVED- wrote: Aww, I wish I could have picked more of them. It's hard narrowing it all down to just three considering a lot of them were really good. :'(

Five, I think you mean. Someone earlier in the topic said "3" instead of 5 as well. What's up with that? Can't be a coincidence.

You are in the top 2000 ACTIVE EXPERIENCE USERS. You're ranked #2600 or so in exp, the fact that you're able to vote means that over 600 people ahead of you in exp weren't active (depositing) in April. Capisce?

If not, read the FAQ pages Tom has made about this. He links to them every month.

Buttlock won a May 1st award, so it's up for the next round of voting.

It doesn't matter whether an author who won a daily award for the month is depositing or not, BTW, you're supposed to be able to vote either way. You'd know that your movie was up for the monthly contest right NOW if it had been submitted/dailyawarded during the proper month (April). You'll be able to vote come June 1st, fear not.

For the next four days, the top 2,000 active users (as well as the mods and the nominees) can log in to their Grounds Gold accounts and vote for their five favorite submissions of the month. The five best submissions will each receive $250, a certificate and a Newgrounds t-shirt. The first place winner will also receive a copy of The Red Ninja: End of Honor for PS2 or XBOX, a CD by Ice Cream Creatures and the DVD "Alert", by Jim Ether of Perisarc.com!

Read more about the competition and prizes as well as the panel of judges! When you log in to your account, you will see if you are eligible to vote!

I really wish the ability to vote wasn't determined by XP alone. ^^ After all, XP only really says "I've been on the site for so long and deposited every day"...

Maybe the top 1000 XP users and the top 1000 B/P users together would be a better choice. :) (Well, obviously, since I could vote then. ^^)

entering the top 1000 b/p users is much easier than entering the top 1000 of the activity list.
besides, the users who massively b/p for the sole reason of gaining b/p are whores and shouldn't be given priorities.

Funny that you of all people should say that. :) You've got quite a number of points yourself...

I'm not sure what you mean by "activity list", either. If you're talking about XP, then, well, yeah, getting into the top 1000 B/P users *is* easier, but that's mostly due to the fact that the amount of XP you can gain each day is pretty limited. That was just my point - in order to get to a (comparatively) high level, you really only have to be signed up for the site for a while (and deposit every day if possible, but that doesn't take any actual effort); someone with a high number of points, on the other hand, shows that he's actually *doing* something and caring about the portal.
