Video Cards

I've been looking on C-Net.com and I'm seeing onloy bad things about Video cards I've previously thought of as good. Seems that NVIDIA 6600s and ATI 9600xt Cards suck. Can someone tell me some really good video cards that can run Halflife2 well and don't cost more than about $200?

Half life 2 can run fine on direcX 7 level cards. the ATI9600xt would do fairly if you get the 128.

To really appreciate the graphics though, get better directX 9 cards, preferably ATI since that's what the game was built for.

the 9800 or X800 series are good choices. I think the 9800 is cheaper.

I recently bought a 9600Pro and its good for what i need. I dont have HL2, but im sure it can play it. 'll have to try out Doom3 soon.

I play HL2 well on my laptop: Athlon 64 3000+ and a Mobility Radeon 9600 64mb. You should be okay.
