Anyway, yeah, just browsing the NG forums, came across this, and decided to post. XD

Iron, you mentioned that furries (Anthros) have been around for a long time. While what I'm about to say may already be known by most of you, I feel it should be pointed out anyway just for anyone who hasn't realized it yet (or hates furries and thinks they're just some new deviant idea). XD

Look at many ancient creatures, from Greek mythology and Egyptian lore. The minotaur for a prime example, half man, half animal. What about your Anubis and Osiris (At least I think Osiris was the one female goddes with the head of a bird, might be wrong though. :/ ), and other Egyptian gods? Humans with animal qualities and human-animal hybrids. Anthros date back into history since... well... humans thought and created. Now, I'm not sure if they acted or Role played back then XD... but you can't deny that they thought up the concept. :)

Hey guys. I saw this topic and decided to ask a question.

I have recently gotten an interest in the furry rage. I dont kno why, but I just want to be a wolf that stands on two legs and speaks human language. This is probally just a phase like my hentai phase.

I dont want to wear a suit or anything, I just wish I was a furry. But I dont approve of having sex with real life animals. (yuk!)

I constantly wish that I could be a wolf on 2 legs and I had my own pack which I would make lots of luv with. I'm mostly focus on female furries. It scares me that most furries are gay. Bisexual is alright, but completely gay is right out.

But here is my question. Is it wrong for me to have this fetish?

All right, sarcasm aside, being a furry doesn't mean that you want to bone animals! Just like being gay doesn't mean you want to bone little boys. Yes, of course there are some in each sort of personality that engages in that behavior, but so do people who are otherwise "normal".

And for the record, it's not Rouge that most furries seem fixated on... it's Tails. Creepy to me too, but who am I to judge?

Just because someone wants to "Get it on." with an animal doesn't mean they're a furry, it could just mean that they are into beastality (Which, in my opinion, is just wrong on every level). There is somewhat of a difference, even though many take it to be the same thing. For example, when was the last time your dog got on the computer and held a chat with some friends? Never, exactly. (Well, unless you have a really talented animal there, in which case I wish you two luck in becoming famous! XD)

When you're talking abotu beastality, you're talking about defenseless animals getting used for sexual intercourse. They can't stop you. (Well, they can, in which case you'll get your eyes clawed out. XP That'll teach you a lesson!) You just go about and have your way with them.

Furries on the other hand, you're talking to another person, Role Playing or acting as an anthropomorphic animal or just an animal in general, but they can do anything you can do, including stop you.

Sure, you could say my views on beastality are just as discriminatory as others views on furries in general. But, at the end of the day, that's all it boils down to. Each individual's perception of something. To me, beastality is just wrong, to some of you, furries are wrong, either way, we both have an off-put feeling towards something. That doesn't mean we have to go and degrade others for what they like and or don't like to do. Because where does that get us? Nowhere, just in a huge quarrel full of confusion and hatred. This has to be the best explanation of furry I've seen so far! Kudos, I might even use this to explain it to my parents if they ever figure out I'm a furry but thing of it in a negative way.

Just one little thing I'd like to add (I havn't read all the posts in the thread so don't go screaming at me if it's already mentioned)

You can pretty much split furries into 3 sub-catagories, and then into species. There's the fandom, fetishism, and there's subculture.
The fandom is more or less just really enjoying anthropomorphic artwork. Might include a little (but just a little) yiff, and low scale fursuiting like just a collar (all I wear :P) or maybe ears/tail.

Feteshism is really more the side most furries get stereotyped with, even though there's more fans than fetishists out there in the fandom. The feteshists really range from just people who really like yiff, fursuiters who make their suits a bit more mature than others, and in some very extreme, and sometimes disturbing cases, people who are big into RL beastiality.

Subculture furries is what you could call people who love to fursuit, often are therians (belief that they are a riencarnation of an animal in human form), see themself as a furry (hallucination kind of idea, one of those "you have to be one to get it" ideas I guess), or seem to have their life revolve around it. Of course this is pretty broad, technically the furry phenomena is a subculture but there's always the low and high extremes of it.

As for the species, they can be anything. Animals, anthro, hybrids, xeno (alien), imagnary, ect. But you can probably seperate them out into:
Canine
Feline
Draconic
Xenomorphic
Equine
Marine
Marsupiel
Rodent
and there's one for rabbits I can't remember

You want to know something? The only reason why about 1/4th of the fandom is gay or bi is actually because it's a close community, and with that people aren't as afraid to be open about it. I bet any other fandom/fetishism/thing is the same way.

Emo's: Freaky hair

Furry is a fandom for anthropomorphic stuff, animals WITH HUMAN FEATURES and the like. Beastiality is just plain wrong and doesn't have jack to do with the fandom.
