I don't know if this belongs here, but I figured this is where smart people hang out.
When a band programs an album (NIN, Static-X) and the programmer/keyboardist is a band member with a instrument that needs his full attention (guitar, drums, ect.), then who the hell is playing all the programmed synth soundbytes?
Just a question 'cause I can't figure it out.

Session musicians, and a whole host of pre-programmed samplers and such. Shok would be a good one to answer this.
I remember seeing a documentary on the Zoo Tv tour (U2) ages ago. There were several guys sat in their own little studio under the stage, playing the guitar along with the rest of the band (who were, obviously, the only ones on stage).

Yeah that answers it, but there's more to ask I forgot. Who's playing the soundbytes on stage, LIVE? Like NIN, all members have to put their attention on some instrument. There's too much synth shit going on for the music be coming from only two keyboards. Who's playing the rest of the music?
