Cut the emo some slack!

I don't understand all this antipathy for "emo" people on Newgrounds. Whenever someone makes a topic about something like breaking up with their girlfriend and their feelings about it, you'll see half of the people responding something along the lines of "GO SLIT UR WRISTS U EMO PHAG!!" (mild exaggeration)

Why? What have they done to you?

I realize that it may sometimes ruin the fun in these forums when someone troubles us with their mental or emotional problems regarding their personal life, and that there are other places where they could seek consolation or a solution for their problems. But that doesn't mean you should flame them to the brink of suicide!

Even if it seems that they are exaggerating their problems and thinking their problems are more serious and more important than the others', remember that having a roof over your head, sleeping in a bed and getting your daily meals don't mean you can't feel sad, depressed or miserable.

I've heard a lot of people stand up for the emotionally challenged recently. I must say, I don't think it's particularly offensive - it's all in good humour and I'm sure everyone appreciates that.

I reckon some of the stuff they say in emo threads goes a little bit far, though. You never know who might be truly falling apart.

Basically the only times I really call someone EMO is when they are being excessivly whinny/bitchy about stuff that doesn't matter. Generally when someone has a legitimate problem, people stick up and help them (from what I've seen at least).

It's simple really. Emo ruined punk. For example I was cursing off this kid, not because he listened to emo because he is an asshole. So he was making fun of me for liking old Green Day. I told him "Go listen to shitty emo music and slit you wrist! Why the fuck do you listen to that bullshit anyway?!" (I had to pin him for something I have emo friends and an emo girlfriend but it was the first thing that popped into my head) He replied "It's time for change" That was his great fucking excuse. This complaint is against 2 types of people:

Person 1:. This is a person not too dissimilar to myself, and like many other regulars here. Saying "emo kid" or any other derogitory insult, is purely for fun. People do it to force reaction, a reaction "we" aim to obtain, in posts like this. We wouldn't necessarily act like a jerk totally for the hell of it, but if the oppertunity arises and we smell something fishy, a slick little comment might pop out. Therefore, no change needed really - no malicious intent, no real damage caused.

Person 2: This person literally does want to upset an individual, out of pure spite and anger. They are also known as "dickheads", "cockswallowing lameoids" or other such delightful names. You don't just get these on the internet, you get them face to face every day. And complaining won't change their stupidity. You just have to grin and bear it - or even better, "fight" them back at their own game. If I see a prick on NG, and they're being specifically annoying, I'll usually silence them with a swift comment (I'm not talking about my average flame wars)... this is reserved for people like darklilangel23, who if I met in person, I'd probably have him across my knees while I'd insert household objects into his rectum. Because he is a pussy. But since it's online, you've got to deal with what you've got - I'm smarter than him and I utilize that.

If you want to stop people from acting like dicks, make a stand. Not a public protest.

It's because emo kids all want attention, listen to crappy music, are pussies, and bitch about small, insignificant stuff like how to coffee was too hot.

Most emo kids aren't sad. That's what pisses me off. They bitch and moan about how their boyfriends/girlfriends dumped them, when deep down, they really wanted the relationship to end. I've seen emo kids in my school with no reason to be sad. They have a rich family and lots of friends. Hell, I've seen them happy most all the time.
