Every other forum seems to have their own 'member lists' and 'regular lounges'. I guess this can be the place where we discuss our audio related stuff. The audio club or whatever is boring, and since there's a forum now. Who needs it..

I'll start off with a few statements, this can be the place where we discuss matters of our audio production. Review one anothers and such. Socialize without the threat of 'others/noobs' etc.

No Homers.

Ok... I like the Audio Portal, how about you?

I agree, the Audio Portal has been long overdue for an update, however, this forum may be the first of many new updates to come for the Newgrounds Audio Portal.

I really hope so. The AP can be frustrating, people voting low on your tracks just to get a better score than you. When you annoy someone on the BBS, the person votes 0 on your songs, which results in such a drop of your score that nobody will ever notice it again. Lots of times I hear music with complete loops of existing track but you can't mark them as abusive.

But for now, this forum is great. It kinda motivates me to start producing tracks for NG again.

Seriously though, I fucking hate when that happens.
Hopefully, sometime soon, the whole Audio Portal system will be worked over and become much more popular than it is now. And who knows, maybe hell will freeze over and I'll be made an audio portal mod.

No one even votes on my audio, whenever I'm surfing through the audio portal there is no visable voting panel.

AP is nice but its way to much of a barrenwasteland. High quality musicans get their stuff voted low on by n00bs because of stupid things. People vote 0's just so they can get their songs onto the top 5 of favorites. Meh, there needs to be alot of work to be done here, mabye a stricter emphases on the rules and what not(like no submitting shit loops of random jibberish), but for what it is now its doing ok

From the looks of things, it seems like that will all be fixed soon. Within the past few days the Audio Portal has been updated more than it has ever been. I am sure it won't be long before they have a B/S type system in place for the Audio Portal.

The thing about the AP is attention.

Everyone who submits songs wants attention in some way, be it by votes, or reviews. Most people probably appreciate the reviws most.
Not everyone who reviews votes, and vice versa.
Problem is though, that high overall score is one way to get attention, since u´ll be high on the list, and thats as I see it the main reason ppl vote 0, so their own songs will "get a boost".
So, when my songs are voted 0 for, I get pissed, like everyone else. Just the fact that someone has "dissed" my songs of no other reason than to make their own shit climb the lists. That is simply not fair to the songs that gets fucked over, and the rated song is in the top with dirty methods. Very often its a song noone really likes too, by some new music maker who just realised he/she can reach the top of the lists that way.

So still, attention is the word, that´s what everyone is after. One other big problem is, that not as many ppl as in the flash portal are visiting the ap, still there are tons of new songs every day. Ppl simply dont have time to reckognize them all.

There are lots of shitty songs popping (pooping) out too, and that too is a problem. The ap dont get the credability it deserves due to this fact, it is difficult to find serious made stuff sometimes. And the hell with the A-Bot´s Weekly Top Five , that shit´s just pathetic. we all know how it works, the one with highest score when page is updated reaches it.

Maybe the blamming system would be a good idea, and i do have something creative to contribute wtih here, not only critisism;
If blamming system would be added to the AP, the song might be on the page for an amount of time, so it can be viewd (listened to) by more people. And to avoid the constant 0 voting, there should be a vote-obstacle, so that u either have to download the song to be able to vote, or listen THROUGH the song first!
This is an example of how it might look, so that people actually would get atteniton, and to me it sounds more exciting :D

Just gonna say that no, i seriously dont like the new graphic either, i want a better overview of the songs that there is now. Maybe better solution of my screen is the ansewer to that tho ;)

If anyone have more examples of how to make the AP better, write them down here, and maybe someone can take them all and send them to Tom or whoever.

Personally i think the whole voting system (scores when reviewing vs simple voting) should be carefully considered, if it really suits the AP at all.
End of essay.

well i'm not really an Audio Forum reg yet ( i just found out about it), but i guess i'll be here a lot more. anyway, as some others have said, the way people vote in the audio portal is corrupt, and i'd agree. as for me, i vote fairly. i listen to the whole song (unless of course it's that shitty, but i rarely stop in the middle anyway), and vote pretty straight forward, instead of 3 or whatever. if like it, i give it a 5, and if i didn't like it, or it was just bleh, i give it 1 or 0. and chances are, if i vote, i'll review it, and vice versa.

The audio portal is cool. Although when you listen to samples after he first one the next doesn't load. But i'm considered a regular.

a refresh usually solves that problem. But yes im glad they finally gave us our own section to play in. The problem is not many flash regulars give much thought to the audio portal - hopefully this will help break down that barrier. I also think there should be respected musicians as mods of this bbs.

i dont know - i only ever have to refresh if i wanna listen to the song again - like if i listened to it - pressed stop and then tried to listen again. I used to think it was because someone else was listening to your song but i dont think thats it. So i dont know why. Im sure liljim would tho. I hope he visits this bbs often tho.
