On April 13th my school is supposed to be having this "Day of Silence" crap just like the rest of the nation... and the gist of it is you shut up about joking about gay people.

This is one of the biggest loads of crap the school systems are dumping on us. I'm not against queers but they're trying to turn us into humorless robots. During one of my classes some kids were discussing the bullshit in this day... one of them said he tore down one of the fliers and a teacher walked up and started bitching at him, "It's people like you we need less of." And you need a nail hit in your head if you can't see the hypocrisy in that. But eh... what am I going to do? I'll just not follow whatever rules they have on that day.

Tolerance shouldn't be forced and celebrated, it should just be there, like a statue or something, just tor remind us that its there. There shouldn't be a whole club and society dedicated to it.

Man, that sucks. Silent for a whole day?? I wonder if I'll have a day like that next week...I'm just thankful that Spring Break was this week.

You have no concept what's symbolism.

Many people are gay, but are in the closet. Many are married with children, and are grandparents. Many struggle trying to look "normal". So they remain silent. Hence, "Day of Silence".

It's not about stopping gay jokes, because obviously many gay people have a GREAT sense of humor (including me). I've called some people on this board, including the mods, "queer" more then a few times, although I always do it in joking and loving way.

Have your joke if you want to. That's what makes life fun.
At least understand that there are many types of people in the world who struggle with identity, and that includes gays.
