November twenty-somethin' and it's still occuring ever since.

Bah, no worries. Earthquakes ain't nothin. The entire Pacific Rim has been beaten with 'em since I was a baby (and a few hundred thousand, if not million years before that,) and it hasn't once scared me. They say I'm overdue for a 8.5+er, but I don't think it'll actually do any real damage. But hey, make sure Japan stays afloat for two more years, so I can still have my exchange trip. I'll buy you some boysenberry jelly if you do.

The thing is....that I've never (almost never since I've experinced very small ones) earthquacks that this strong before.

Well I'm sure Japan will last longer than that. (since the earthquacks are beginning to settle)

It's your fault for living on land that lies above several tectonic plates.
j/k
Just remember: when an earthquake strikes, get under a door frame.
Parts of California have been living under the same threat for years now. We frequently joke about it 'snapping off and floating away.' When mudslides are a coastal norm, that's when I'd start to worry. ;)
Actually, funny little known fact here, the area where I live, in South Carolina, is actually 'overdue' for a good size quake, isn't that fun. Ah, people thinking, oh we do not have to worry about earthquakes, we live all the way over here in the south. Though, the main concern never is when the big quake is gonna happen, its what kind of Hurricanes we can expect next season.

I live in VA and I remember Richmond having a quake not too long ago. Where in South Carolina do you live. My grandparents have a condo down in Myrtle Beach.

Closer to Charleston.
"In 1886 Charleston was nearly destroyed by a major earthquake that was felt as far away as Boston and Bermuda. It damaged 2,000 buildings and caused $6 million worth of damage, while in the whole city the buildings were only valued at approximately $24 million."

I believe another major earthquake is expected to hit around 2020.

No joke, Japan is a region of serious geological activity, being right on the ring of fire, as it is. Sorry to hear about you being in danger of having an earthquake hit, but just remember, earthquakes are more afraid of you than you are of them... or is that tornados? Oh well, just try yelling at it and see if that works. But seriously, you should try to get under something sturdy. The number 1 cause of deaths in an earthquake is from debris, as if that wasn't obvious.
Think you're pretty clever...
