How the flying shitake mushroom did my Runaway Hand cartoon make it in?
That cartoon is nowhere near as good as my Redwar or @t cartoons.
Oh well.
A mystery to me.

Also, for any mods that are listening, I'd love my review ban to come off. Seeing as I made 1 angry review to a cartoon that got blammed whilst others cavort about constantly leaving abusive reviews and nothing happens to them.
Hmm.
I finally got to use the word "cavort" in a sentence.
Truly, today is a day for celebration.

Woah. Hello, Newgrounds updates and upgrades. How shiny. Suppose I should start posting again...

So I missed the first monthly vote? Shame, that. At least I get to represent Broken Saints (even if its chances of making a top five spot are slim to none)! The years on Newgrounds have paid off, apparently. Huzzah!

Anyway, hello to people who remember me (pretty much anyone on the IRC chan).

I can't decide which ones to vote for. I'm afraid that I haven't watched the best flashes, and that in a last minute panic, I'll vote for mediocre ones.

I love how people never give any flash games any attention. Games take alot more work then movies. I saw quite a few good games in the last month. Almost anyone could animate in flash. But action script?

I voted the latest episode of that for 2nd or 3rd because I love that series and the latest one was really funny too.

It's amazing how many good movies actually come out in a whole month, then when you're trying to vote for just five of them it's bloody impossible to decide!

As for games, although there were some fun ones (KITTEN CANNON!) I've yet to really find a Flash game that I can play and then want to go back to again later, replayability is the biggest factor in a game for me.

It seems like less people are participating (or at least viewing all the flashes) this time. Last month, my flash got like 100extra views in like 3 days, this month it got around 4 :(

Oh well.

Few can animate well in flash, even fewer have something interesting to say. I hope we can rate the stories/writing of a cartoon someday.

Just like last month, this month is tough to decide for 5 ranks.

I noticed someone asking how long we can vote for. Tom said "for the next four days" when he posted this topic around 5 PM on the 1st... did he mean literally 96 hours from that time? Or just 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th? Well... there's no way to be positive without asking him, but I can tell you this about last month's vote:

We were able to start voting earlier on March 1st (than we were on April 1st, that is). Tom said we had until the END of March 4th (Friday) to vote. But the vote link ended up staying in profiles until March 6th (Sunday). Tom was busy the coming week (it was the week he went to San Fran and then Austin), so I'm pretty sure that's why the vote ended up spanning that weekend in addition to the original 4 day period.

Seeing as how Tom's off in England, I wouldn't be surprised if the vote remains open awhile longer again. I personally voted on the 4th back in March and I voted on the 4th (i.e. yesterday) in April... just to make sure/be careful.

It's better to vote on the 4th and find out you had a couple extra days... than assume you had the extra days and BOOM... you didn't. ;_;

Anyone who's been waiting to vote... GET VOTING TODAY. It could be the last day the panel is accessible.

Heya, Zekey. I agree, runawayhand wasn't as great as RedWar or @t, no... but it's the one that won a daily award. And that's the only way your movies have made this contest, since Tom doesn't seem to be a fan (or maybe just has never seen your movies) and so hasn't featured any on the frontpage that didn't have an award...

And the reason for that is quite simple: you submitted runawayhand on a day when not many super-high-scoring flashes were submitted, so you were in the daily top 5... you submitted RedWar and @t on days when too many huge authors submitted super-high-scoring flash, and you fell out of the top 5 those days. ;_;

At 4/1/05 11:19 PM, frostedmuffins wrote: I have a question Tom. If I submitted a flash yesterday, but it was put on the front page today (which I will never forget, thank you soooo much!!!!), am I entered in this month's list, or April's?

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/222150 (aka 3 3ast 3 3urious) was submitted at 5 PM on February 28th, but it didn't qualify for the Best of February voting a month ago.

It won a daily award for MARCH 1ST, because that's how things on NG work: any daily award you win has the FOLLOWING date on it (or even two days later if you submit at like 11:30 PM).

As a result, the monthly contest is really a "last day of the month-before-last to the NEXT-to-last day of last month" span thingie. If that makes any sense at all. Which it should, if you paid attention to my 3333 example. #;-}>

You've got the closest tastes to mine for this past month's flashes (in this topic, at least).

I wanted to vote for 3 3ast 3 3urious, Orbox, Runawayhand, There She Is 2, Madness Depradation, AND Motherload, and that's 6 entries (4 of which you voted for in your top 5). THEN... I realised that most of the time since Skye submitted the 825-feet-depth-limited demo version of Motherload to NG, I only played it once or twice and then moved on to the FULL version on his site (where you can get to around 7500 feet deep... not to mention save your stats/equipment and "beat" the game), which is where I've been wasting time since 3/31....

And I kinda decided it was unfair to vote for it based on my fun experiences on XGenStudios.com, when we're supposed to be voting on the actual *NG entry*... so... I snipped it off the list.

1. 3 3ast 3 3urious (just greatness! funny as hell... HAD to give it the full 5 points)
2. Runawayhand (I didn't vote for Zekey's collab last month, I HAD to vote for his solo work +4 points!)
3. Orbox (I spent a couple days on that game in early March, it had great replay value.. so... 3 points)
4. There she is!! step 2 (not on par w/ #1 but still great... didn't need more than 2 points from me to win, though)
5. Madness Depredation (similarly, I didn't enjoy it as much as Avenger or Apotheosis, but those never got a chance to be in one of these votes. At the same time, there's no way it won't win, so I just gave it 1 point)

The date that's taken into consideration in the selection criteria isn't the date that the entry is uploaded. It's the date that the entry got either the front page feature or won an award. So, the selection date/time for last month is:

03/01/05 00:00:00 through 03/31/05 23:59:59 based on the award date/time and/or front page date/time. So what you're saying is mostly right, with the exception of entries that get on the front page on the same date that they were uploaded - two comparisons, given that scenario:

Entry A is uploaded on 28th February and gets the front page on 1st March - entry is eligible for March awards, rather than February.
Entry B is uploaded on 28th February and gets the front page on 28th February - entry is eligible for February awards, rather than March.
