I hope everyone understands why we are taking this step. I hope you will take this step with us. Together we can make Numagrounds the site Newgrounds always aspired to be!!!

I'd love stats on how many people fall for this, and what percentage of those use four-lettered profanity.

I think Newgrounds should stay how it is. This might be a joke I don't know but listen here.

When you have something which is successful then Don't change it! As for problems with people being over abusive and stuff then theres other ways to deal with them. I hope you do the right thing for NewGrounds :)

you're joking, right? it's an april fools joke, right? i have no problem with trying to mature the image of newgrounds and taking steps towards creating a more mature audience (read: no longer tolerating the juvenile, homophobic, single-minded 12 year olds that contribute) and encouraging more skilled artists to participate in the "newgrounds experience" but, please explain to me how 30 year old housewives are going to help you do that? i've been a newgrounds regular since 2000. i've seen it grow from "pico, FDA, club-a-seal, assasin and britney spears dress-up/down games" into the site that it is today, hosting countless talented artists and giving inspiration to countless others who are just learning. that's what newgrounds is and unless those housewives are feeling excessively creative on a regular basis, they will be the downfall of newgrounds. please tell me it's just an april fools joke.

At 4/1/05 12:57 AM, TomFulp wrote: For the past few years, I've really been struggling with the branding of Newgrounds. In a post-911 environment with an ongoing war against terror, I thought the tank logo was a bit too warmongerish and hostile. Our business consultants feel that hostile branding breeds a hostile audience, hence all the problems we have with troublesome users.

Recently, we have seen an amazing thing happen with the Numa Numa Dance. We received POSITIVE press for once, traffic flourished and I received tons of encouraging emails from housewives around the country. These women really loved that video of Gary. Our market research shows that housewives in their mid-30s to late-40s are THE TARGET demographic on the web. They have time to browse and money to spend. Best of all, THEY DON'T CAUSE PROBLEMS. They send me emails of appreciation and encouragement instead of stuff like, "YOU SUCK!" and "FUCK YOU!"

So it has been decided that NG could benefit a bit from a change in attitude... A new brand for new times. I've decided that Gary and the Numa Numa Dance are the perfect icon for this next step, hence I am now re-branding Newgrounds as NUMAGROUNDS. From now on, please point your browser to http://www.numagrounds.com. It is currently set to redirect, but the total transfer will be complete in the next 30 days.

This is just a first step to test the water... I think this is a big moment for Newgrounds. We will still be catering to everyone, but we need to make a shift for the good of the site. Remember, more traffic for Newgrounds means more exposure for your Flash. More money for Newgrounds means better prizes! We think we can manage to still showcase the great "youth work" on the site, while also maturing a bit with content that can be enjoyed by adults across the country. After all, I'm getting on in years... How long do you think I can laugh at stick figures exploding themselves?

I hope everyone understands why we are taking this step. I hope you will take this step with us. Together we can make Numagrounds the site Newgrounds always aspired to be!!!

I even didn't realize that it was changed, untill I saw that the logo was changed from Newgrounds to Numagrounds.

Someone should actually make an entire flash version of the numa dance, instead of the movie that's known right now.

You either didn't have much time on your hands or couldn't be bothered! Just one changed logo, not like you. Most of us are used to bigger changes on Newgrounds, for instance when you handed control over to your friend/cousin whoever he was! That was awesome! As soon as I saw the logo I knew what you were trying, nice try, no cigar! Lol.

Weird coincidence: I accidentally voted twice on a submission and it said to check out American Idle instead. The Numa Numa submissions are taking over!
