As many of you are aware, the pope isn't doing so great healthwise now. Do we know who the next pope is going to be? Do you think many changes will be made to the church after a new pope is put into place?

Just a few questions, while I'm not religious, the Pope is a good man, the church has done a lot of good <and a lot of bad> and I do hate to see him in such bad health. I'm guessing he won't survive through the next year, but thats just my guess. Anyways, just wondering what you guys think about his health condition, who will be the next pope, and any changes that you think will be brought through with the next pope. Personally I'm hopeing that the Catholic church will start at least somewhat endorsing condoms, while they don't like the purpose of them, they are needed to help with the AIDs epedemic <sp>.

Nobody knows who the next Pope will be. They have to wait until he's dead to even start nominating replacements, IIRC.

John Paul II was the most liberal pope in history, so I can actually see them backpedaling on some issues. However, I'd like to see some more culpability for the treatment of Jews living just outside the Vatican City during WWII. Or lack thereof, rather.

You're telling us that it's probably gonna be stricter? I hate the church and all it's shitty rules already, and now there's gonna be more shit flung at us? If it wasnt for my parents I'd sleep on Sundays.....

I'm really hoping they stick with the liberal idea and take another step to the left. It would do a lot to endear the RCC to those who are ambiguous about it.
