I just bought an iPod, in fact, it came in the mail about 2 hours ago. I was on the Apple website, looking at the article on the iPod batteries. It says that after a "large, but finite" number of battery cycles, the battery will die and need to be replaced. They have an image to show you about how long it will last on the Battery page. Now let me ask you guys, DOES ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THIS? (you can see a clearer, larger image on the Battery page)

You send in your iPod, and they replace the battery. They charge you a 'minimal fee' of 99 bucks.

Shit I knew that. I'm trying to find out how this picture is supposed to help me find out when I'm going to have to pay the $99 "minimal fee".

I looked at it for a while, and I couldn't make heads or tails out of it. One cycle might be discharging your battery 100% (discharge till 50, recharge, discharge till 50 equals 100%) or it might be that discharge + charge adding up to 100 makes a cycle (discharge till 50 and recharge equals 100%). No idea, really.

Keep looking around. Search Google for articles and such, as I read about solutions a few weeks ago.
Here's what I remember:
There's something about an update that drains the battery power, and you can download a rollback or another update that will eliminate it, or else Apple will give it to you. Or something.
Basically, there is another solution besides the "minimal fee", so keep looking. I know it's out there, but I'm not going to find it for you.

I got an archos, its way better than an iPod compared onw hat it can do. Theres one for like 150 bucks, right now probably cheaper. It had a 20gig harddrive, in which can be used as an external harddrive for your PC to store your files. You can also put your video, but you'll have to convert it to a smaller resolution in DivX format or something. Of course it can play your thousands of music. It has a camera, although its kinda sucky, but I think the new models are nicer now. Oh it also has a microphone in which you can record your voice. Heh heh, and that's just the old version.
The new version lets your record from your tv and even from your dvd players and record while you are playing the game, you can set a schedule to record too! Oh and the quality is really, really good!
Well enough of that, I mean an iPod wiht about 20 gigs its pretty expensive, you can get a lot more for this "archos", heh heh its kinda big though, (old game boy big)

I wish I would of. My iPod has already broken once, only about 2 weeks after I got it. I sent it in to get repaired and after 3 months they told me my iPod wasn't gonna work so instead of giving me my money back, they just send me another fucking iPod. iPods are no where near worth the money they end up costing you.
