Ah, Pokemon. Where do I begin...
My first game was Blue, back in 1998. I was 5 years old at the time, but it wasn't until Gold and Silver came out that I really started getting into it. I have vivid memories of trading with my older brother and his Silver version, while I had Gold.
Today, almost 14 years later, I decided to replay Gold. Just beat the first gym leader, and the game still feels so fun. It's not just nostalgia, either, although that plays a pretty big role. The AMAZING colour graphics, day/night feature, cell phone add-on, and the fact that your rival isn't your friend next door (but a mysterious criminal). It's a feeling hard to describe - you had to be a part of that generation to really understand the exciting essence of the game. These days, I consider it to be an almost "exclusive" club. Hehehe.
To this day, Gold/Silver are my number one games, with Ruby/Sapphire coming in a very close second. The innovation at the time was mind-blowing. Judging from X/Y, I honestly doubt it even feels like a true Pokemon game. You had to be there in the early 2000's to really feel the excitement in the air surrounding the epic Gold/Silver games. I'm sure those of you who are real Pokemon connoisseurs understand me perfectly, and agree 100%.
