Oil = lubricates motor vehicle parts to prevent friction, which causes a loss in power and shortens the life-span of parts.

Fuel/Petrol = used in the combustion process to: combust. This energy is used to turn the drivetrain, causing to car to move if it's in gear.

At the moment, we already have synthetic oils. Although a lot of racing teams don't like synthetic oil, there are racing series that only permit the use of synthetic oils.

It would seem the smart thing to find a new source or raw material we can use to lubricate our machinery, but why not just recycle the oil we're using now.

1 drop of oil pollutes a million drops of water. Because it's so enviromently dangerous, companies have already started finding ways to recycle oil so we can use it again.

That would be the easiest and best way to solve it. So say the proffessionals.

personally I dont see whats so bad about republicans, sure they dont exactlly have the greatest president but I dont think that Republicans in general are stupid. OHH SHIT I found a flaw in the plan!

Hydrogen cars are being developed... when a hydrogen car is run, it omits nothing but water and heat. so at first this seams VERY eniernmentaly awesom... but to actauly MAKE hydrogen is a different story and can eaisly pallute more than gasoline already does. Then there's ethenal, right now some states alow 15% ETH and the rest is pure gas, ethenal is basicaly gas with Biomass such as corn or beans. It's be thought that we can run on 85% ETH... so we would use less crue oil (the stuff we buy and suck the gas out of).... but to make an 85% blend would probably be not such a good thing, as the land it would take to produce enough biomass would ... not quite availible. then theres domestic oil. I do't know where you heard that oil's gone in 43 years. we ARE close to peak oil, which means that we are now geting the MOST oil ever and soon we WILL be counting the years. think of it as a graph in the shape of on big triangle, we will be close to hitting the top in around 40 years is maybe what you heard. ANWR alone could support us domesticly for about 50 years before peeking. So if we biggin domestic oil AND importing just enough to keep controll of prices, we could last long enough untill alternate fules are readdy. The gulf of mexico also might have an oil well, billlionds of barrels estimated.

All in all, there are alot of people thinking about how to solve this... either it get so bad that we have to stop giving into oil price demands and rip open anwr like a christmas present, or we use the time we have to get cars and energy supporting themselves before we use up all the oil.

Lubrication != Fuel... Get that straight, dammit!

A lack of oil does not rise the need to find alternative fuels as oil is not used as fuel. It lubricates parts.

They're already making cars that work on water. And those are already able to drive. But those cars are still too expensive. So now they're working on it to make it cheaper.

So yeah: the solution is water.

I remember once saying that a forced extintion may happen, when absolutely everything runs out. I also remember Wade saying that there is a layer of methane under the ocean which can produce more energy than what we have now combined.
Unless someone discovers the art of nuclear fusion.

They are moving forward on cars using used vegetable oil. granted the stuff only works in diesel engines, but there is a conversion kit available today. And we all know how fast something can develope because of a preceived need. Some students in Canada geared up a bus and drove it across Canada burning only veggi oil. Also here in Halifax there is a diesel car that the local drives on used (filtered) vegetable oil, but he says that he has to mix it 50/50 in the winter because the veggi oil gets too thick in the cold. When this things running it smells like a deep frier cooking french fries.

So yeah: the solution is water.

So in the next 143 years we'll be running out of water right??
