No problemo. Lots of people who've been here for a loooong time and had ample opportunity to have found out how some things they end up being interested in work... they still often are ignorant about some stuff.

Most of the stuff that's been said about the unwhistle-ability of review mods for those few months was either on the review mod forum (not your fault for having not seen that stuff, obviously!) or perhaps in the "abusive reviews" topic on Where is/How to?, which I suppose you might not be an avid reader of. No biggie, again.

I don't believe it ever was, no. But little features, such as that one... or the new 4 decimal digits thanks for voting score display, as another example... aren't really worth making front page posts (or any topics about, really).

Obviously it's just a matter of time and work before review mods can do different things and before a portal mod system is set up as well, blackpowerranger.

Greg, you mentioned that they've been working on this for years, but it really doesn't seem to make any difference. Even submissions will still get their say before anyone sees anything wrong with it. While I applaud this effort to rid the portal of spam, I honestly think that it is futile, as people will always find a way to promote a site in who's promotion said people will get some benefit.

Of course it's futile if the effort is to COMPLETELY stop such things. But the goal really isn't that... it's to LOWER the amount of such shit to as little an amount as possible.

And some things, such as the "banned people's reviews don't show up to anyone but mods/admins unless it's the most recent review on a movie" policy.... and the "you can't review faster than 1 review per 3.5 minutes" policy... are making a positive difference. That's all we can do: find small changes to enact and hope they work, yanno?

NG has practically infinite hard drive space, it's the least of their problems (bandwidth and database server strain are much higher up on the list). There's nothing wrong with hanging on to blammed flashes just in case... at least for a certain amount of time. No one can access them unless they snagged the SRC URL before the flash was blammed, as you figured out how to do. Good job with that, BTW, but you ain't the first to think of it. #;-}>

But if he did get Turd Of The Week look at all the people who would view his animation and goto cyber-wars while (if it's true) he gets 10 cents per person that goes there.

i think its good where it is now because some times for first time users its hard to get a 2.00 score.

i agree, some arent that bad but still get around 1.5, which is not that great but they still deserve a place on the portal. raise the threshhold and newbies might start giving up, and serious potential could be missed
