Downtime?... What downtime? Mar. 6th, 2005 @ 09:52 AM Reply

On occasion we need to take the site down for maintenance and today was one such occasion. In preparation for the load balancer, some network re-shuffling needed to be done including the replacement of our core switch. The network administration for the site isn't a full-time job so when such tasks need to be done, I enlist the help of a friend of mine. As of 9:30pm last night, we were all set for the 8am-noon window to complete the work. However, at around 6am I received a call from my friend saying that he was at the hospital with his very pregnant, for the time being anyway, wife. In retrospect, she was due in a week so maybe we were cutting it a little close.

Anywho, no planned downtime for today. Hopefully we can get it done in the next week or two once the new grandparents show up to help the new parents out. In the meantime, Good Luck Scott!

To summarize: D'Oh!.... Can't fight nature I guess.

Oh, that's what was wrong. Thanks for letting us know. We were all wondering why the site wasn't down. Oh well, as long as we know, it's okay and I understand.

Pssh, there is no pregnant friend. This was all a trick to lure us awy from NG, but when you saw that people were still visiting you had a change of plans.
