Xombie: Dead On Arrival

Hey guys.

James here. The Newgrounds staff has been kind enough to let me share some news with you regarding Xombie. Here's a few quick answers to start things off. No I haven't quit the show. No I haven't died. (Yet) No I haven't turned it over to anyone else. I'm still here, plugging away as usual. There have, however, been some major developments. Developments which I am now allowed to share with you, without the slightest possibility of being sued, severely beaten, or assassinated by an elite team of ninja lawyers. They have them. I've SEEN them.

So here goes.

The Xombie property has been optioned by actual, real-life Hollywood producers, who make actual real-life Hollywood movies. Which means, at long last, after almost a year of phone calls, contracts and trips to L.A., there will be a fully-animated Xombie movie.

The movie itself has been in development for well over a year (as stated), and as of today, has finally gone into production with co-producer Wetsand Animation Studios at the helm.

As the production kicks into gear, the fans will be granted access to Wetsand Animation Studios, where you can literally watch the movie being made. Check out the official production site at Xombie.ca. So there you have it. Thanks again for all your patience, support, and enthusiasm for the Xombie project. And a very special thanks to everyone (especially Tom) at Newgrounds for helping to get the word out, and generate some much-needed buzz about the show.

At the end of the day, we all want this to be the coolest cartoon you've EVER seen. We are going to create a finite unit of animated entertainment which, according to every relevant parameter, should not exist. An animated film which combines not only zombies and shovels, but mummies, dinosaurs, Lovecraftian mecha, and spaceships equipped with rapid fire plasma guns. I don't know about you, but that's just about the best thing I've ever heard.

I can't wait for you guys to see this!

That is very cool.
When you say film you do mean like full length sort of thing, as in hour and a half long or so. Or will it be shorter like 30 minutes or something.
Any way sounds very cool, and just goes to show that newgrounds and other sites really do help get very good artists noticed by developers, producers, studios and the like.

Hope it all goes well, the film turns out great in the end. Your Xombie series is one of the best on newgrounds. Consider me a definate pre-order, so you have sold one copy already :D. When it finally comes out any way.

i feel proud for you, the series
has always been great and original
in terms of style and storyline. the
animation is slick and visually vibrant,
so its only expected to see this to happen.
though what im curious on, is the movie going
to be in flash or actually animated like any other
animated movie? because tom fulp made his
alien hominid game just with the flash graphics
for the major enterainment gaming consoles, so
will you go in the same direction? not that it would
be bad if you did, but i think it would be such of an
improvement if it were in cellular animation.
cant wait for it to come out :P

Reasons why the Xombie series rocks:
You have an intelligent storyline
Your animation and art is WAY beyond average to the best flash movies ever
We all just crave for the fighting scenes; they're the best part!

I wonder if this will be a full out in-movie theaters kinda deal or if it will just be a strait to DVD release. From the look of Westsand they don't look they have but anything into theaters thusfar so but they could always just be doing the animation and it is some major studio that is actually producing the movie. Either way I will definately be seeing it when it comes out.
