Yes I run in 800x600. But it is not that hard to switch back and forth, just a pain in the ass. But IGN runs fine for me though in 800x600.

I have a really big screen so I use 1024. But I don't think you need to make any changes... It's all right like that. Anyway, people with 800x600 sucks because it's so big it takes like one hour to scroll the page.

in fact, i myself am somewhat insulted by the concept that people would have resolutions even as small as 1024x768

1024x768 is pretty standard, I don't see why you'd be INSULTED by people using it.

Not everyone has a giant monitor or a good video card, you know.

different resolutions are good if you're using your computer for certain purposes.

For example, I mostly just use this for surfing the web, but I occasionally use programs with a lot of panels and menus, and anything below 1024x768 makes the workspace frustratingly small, especially in image-related programs.

And if you use your computer for graphics or art desinging of any sort, of course you'd need a very large resolution.

Shouldn't expect everyone to have the same needs and uses for their computer as you do though.

Anyway, I myself use 1152x864

Yes, I know it's a weird resolution, but it works for me.

If you can't do it in 400x60, post it in a thread, not in your sig.

You have to consider the bandwidth issues.

I still use a lower resolution, currently I am a college student who pays his own way and I can't afford to upgrade my monitor this very moment. I use a 800x600 monitor.

That would be a good idea.

I've used 800X600 forever. I will have to scroll around more to stuff but I guess I will be fine with the change.

Yeah, I have a 17" Dell with 1024 by 768 resolution, and the site works fine. And to all people who use a resolution less than 1024 by 768 but can switch to 1024 by 768, you should switch. Everything looks alot better. All you have to do is right click, left click properties, go to settings, and drag the resolution bar.

How can your monitor have 3 dimensions? 800 pixels wide, by 600 pixels high and 32 pixels deep is impossible with a montior. Isn't it?

I have 1280x1024 currently. You should make a poll, that could possibly be more effective.

I use 1280x1024. My screen's 17 inches.

Hope that helps the poll. I support this idea all the way.

1024 is alright. Most of the members got 1024 or more so if you got a good reason to use 1024 just use it. I think it's ok with 860 cuz you can see a bit of the other things running, but update to 1024 if you need to.

I am just curious... What are you going to do with the new space?

I think he means the screen resolution is at 800 x 600 and the color quality is 32-bit. Hence, 800x600x32.

I would assume most people are using the 32-bit (or highest or "millions of colors") setting?

I hope so... I truly feel bad for anyone who has to see this site in 256 colors.

Designer are not limited to just the web-safe color palette anymore.
