1024x768
I think it's about time everyone bumped up to at least that : )
i dont want NG taking up my whole screen......
My comp is 640x480, and sometimes flashes don't fit now >.<
but I do have access to a 1024
Please do this ton, that would be very cool, could even have room for more things.

Supposedly, 20% of web surfers still use resolutions less than 1024. I'm just not sure if any of them are Newgrounds visitors! IGN.COM is 1024 and one of the top 200 sites on the web, so I'm assuming it hasn't been a problem for them.
If we are going to consider expanding to 1024, I want to be sure we aren't screwing over a lot of people.
Interesting. I am currently running at 1024x768 with a 17 inch monitor. I HAD a 19 inch monitor for 6 years that died last spring, and with it I was running 1152x864 or whatever. I preferred that resolution, but my gf's eyes get tired of reading text at that res with this 17 inch monitor, so... hence the 1024x768.
As for switching NG's format... hm. It's a tough one. On the one hand, there are certainly pages (such as the top 50 list pages) where extra width would help. BUT...
on the other hand? I'll get to that in a second:

Do you really keep your web browser maximized, though? This is what I was about to get at:
I have my default window size for both IE and FireFox set to 888 width, 715 height, which is the full height from top-of-screen to top-of-taskbar... but the 888 is so that when I open multiple windows I can see the other ones behind them and click around more easily than with the taskbar or using alt-tab...
Anyway, my point is, the 888x715 is perfect for viewing NG's current format. If NG switched to a format more suited for 1024x768, I'd have to run my browsers in a fullscreen mode to show the full width, and personally I don't like to operate like that.
In short: even some 1024x768 users like me are used to MOST websites on the web not needing fullscreen view to see everything fine. I hate scrolling side-to-side. IT IS TEH DEVIL. #;-}>

I have very little padding with my 888x715 windows. If NG switches... my padding will be gone and I'll have to use 1000x715 windows or something... at which point.... what the hell is the point? #;-}>

i run 800x600, i can go bigger but i tdont like it.
i run 800x600, i can go bigger but its gay and not a big fan of it
I have a 1280X800 resolution, that's right widescreen.
Guess it's time to update from my 320x240 resolution.
Seriously, like a couple of other people, I use 1024x768, and can go even higher, but I do like the space on the sides. I often use it for my favorites/radio/search frame, and it fits nicely with the content of the site.
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...
No problems here fearless leader. I got the 1024 covered.
I run 1280x1024, and I would be just fine if you bump up the site layout to fit 1024x768.
I force 1024x768 on all of my computers. All of my moniters can only support up to 1024. Soon i should be getting a new one thats a lot better.
Lets expand it baby...
I would assume about 35% still use 800x600
Just a guess.
If we are going to consider expanding to 1024, I want to be sure we aren't screwing over a lot of people.
yes, i still use 8x6.

I think the above two posts perfectly describe this topic on the whole.
Half of the people say lower resolutions suck, half of the people say higher resolutions suck. Out of curiosity, I just counted up the responses. Here they are:
1st number: # who favour the change or just said the resolution and didn't comment
2nd number: # who oppose the change and have that resolution
3rd number: total # of people who said they have that resolution
finally, resolution
_0 / _1 / _1 / 640x480
_5 / 20 / 25 / 800x600
18 / _8 / 26 / 1024x768
_1 / _0 / _1 / 1152x864
_2 / _0 / _2 / 1280x800
_9 / _0 / _9 / 1280x1024
_1 / _0 / _1 / 1440x900
_1 / _0 / _1 / 1600x1200
_1 / _0 / _1 / 1920x1440
Totals:
Approve of change/no opinion: 38
Oppose the change: 29
So there ya go.
One thing that's clear is that most people use either 800x600 or 1024x768, but please NOTE the large number of people with even 1024 that don't want this change, and the HUGE number of people using 800x600 who don't want it. 20 is the highest number of any opinion group I counted up.

EXACTLY. Here's a screenie of my screen. Note the BBS in an IE window on the right... and the Flash Portal on the left (underneath) in a FireFox window.
1024x768 doesn't mean we want Newgrounds to FILL the entire desktop. Most of us like our space. And I have a feeling a lot more of the people using 1024 right now don't even think of that, but if the change happens... they will begin to regret voicing support for it, as they will soon find that things are much more cramped on their screen, and they can't see as many windows at the same time:

I used 800x600 until recently when we got a new monitor. It always bugged me when websites used bigger resolutions. Like my resolution isn't good enough for them. I've got 1024 now, though.
So why are you thinking about switching? ... because IGN is doing it? If IGN.COM jumped off a bridge, would you? :-p
I am surprised so many are stuck on 800 X 600
I islike that resolution, I use 1024 X 768 or 1152 X 864 depending on what I am doing.
I believe that the switch would be beneficial and I am currently using the 1024 resolution. Go on and do as you please.
