Hi there, I had a couple of questions regarding performance with Counter-Strike: Source.

I asked my dad if he could get me a new computer, and he said yes. The only restriction to it was, that it had to be under $1500. My question to you guys was, what exact model of computer should I get? A PC as in, the whole package, including: computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

I'd like this PC to be good enough to play games like Counter-Strike: Source, smoothly, and any other games that run on the Source engine. I'd also like it to be able to play very detailed games like Age of Empires 3, Day of Defeat: Source, and so on. The PC has to have the proper graphics/video card in it, or you can recommend me a seperate link for that, if the PC you suggest does not contain the cards needed to run the above listed games, smoothly.

No only the tower. (The box with all the junk inside)

Get a PCI-E motherboard, 2 gigs of ram (buy two 1gig sticks), an GeForce 8800GTS graphic card and in terms of processing power something like a dual core amd 4200+ should be sufficient.

Dont forget stuff like power supply, cd-dvd writer and a hard drive. Thats just what you should be aiming for, get a proffesional to do stick it all together if you have trouble.

I approve of this setup, though I have a 5200+ to be more futureproof.

That's enough to run full gfx Lost Coast with no slowdown at all, and get 13k marks on 3dmark05. (my rig is in the top 4% of all 3dmark05 users apparently)

plus my case has lights on it.
