I dont see what the fuckin problem is and why everyone is whining about a funny simple flash movie that gets alot of attention. If you want to become that popular too, why not be creative and try something hilarious, catchy and original yourself.

I am not too fond of it also, it was kinda funny but i think all the attention is just a lil bit silly. Its great for Newgrounds that they attract more people to their site because of this, but i hope they will continue to showcase a very diverse selection on the frontpage, so that not only the very popular movies get selected, but as well as the less popular - but clever - ones.

But since this has been the case with this website since i can remember, i dont see any reason why anyone should complain at all.

Thanks to Gary for submitting his Numa Numa Dance video to Newgrounds.com! We can also thank Tom Fulp for discovering Gary's video and deciding to feature Numa Numa Dance on the front page and make Gary into an instant celebrity! :)

As I was sitting in my bed I heard it on the TV downstairs and I was like no way. I didn't know Gary was from NJ but thats cool because I'm from NJ

While the flash is not all that inspired, I do like the music. I've been a fan of O-Zone since late last year when I saw the music video to their hit single on some music channel in Aruba (actually its a neat channel. I couldn't understand everything that was going on because it wasn't in English but aparantly you can pay a small fee to request a video you want and there is live chat at the same time going along the bottom of the screen while the video is playing.) It took me awhile to find the cd, "O-Zone Discozone" because nobody in Miami seemed to know of them or carry it, but I finally got it in early January and It has been the main fare during long drives ever since. I did a little research (like five minutes ago) and found out that it's become popular because of a Japanese flash that uses the track. Had anyone else been a fan before the various flashes came out?

There are some other good Euro-Dance and even psuedo Bossa-Nova types I like. If you're into foreign music you should check out Paris Combo's "Living Room". Other good groups of different genres include Wikkeda, a Bulgarian ska group (not exactly something you hear every day!) and Zuccharo, an Italian performer inspired by American blues and gospel, combining those musical values with some old fashioned rock and roll.

-_- Just what we need... More fatties to laugh at...

I'm sure someone will wear a Cheech mask and dance to a random DDR song... It'll happen. Eventually. And the people will laugh, as is their responsibility.

I'm sure when they found a video of a guy dancing in a chair and singing a song they thought millions of people were gonna watch it and it was gonna be all over the news.

I wish NG was in the news more. It sends more new viewers to the site and gives more exposure to our Flash artists.

No, NG put a silly little video on the front page that was never seen before and wasn't popular. It then became popular and then got in the news.

Why wouldn't we want more people to find out about Newgrounds.com and come here? I'm sure our portal artists don't mind the extra views and feedback they are getting as a result. People don't submit their work here because they think we're a small site, they submit here because they know we give them the greatest exposure.

Yeah, there were definently users who enjoyed this entry and saw potential in it before Tom featured it. However this is true of almost all entries on the site. :) Tom made the decision to give it a shot and launched it into Internet History. :)

What's so wrong with Numa Numa being on the news? At least it's not like the Star Wars kid, who didn't know that his classmates were videoing him and then posted it to embarass him. (I remember that the classmates got sued, as well they should.)

Actually, there have been some good numa parodies, PsychoPlo Din Tei is pretty good and Numa Numa: Remix? is just plain strange. However, most of them are pretty bad.

the original seems to be rather lame compared to those two. Granted, it is still funny.

While I agree more visitors is a good thing, meaning more ad cash and more promotion and such, I ultimately think such mainstream exposure for NG is a bad thing. We've seen examples already with all the users now fagging up the BBS and the portal that came here just for Foamy or Ganguro Girl, or other popular flashes and series that've branched out to other websites. The more known NG gets, the more retards seem to come here and the worse and worse the quality of EVERYTHING gets.

Though it might not be that bad if we got more visitors, and raised the required age to have an NG account to 16 or older. All the porn on this site alone should deem that a rule woth having,

Fuck it.

Yeah, we can't have the BBS go to shit! That's our #1 priority! YEAH RIGHT. Our #1 priority is giving our Flash artists as much exposure as possible. It's not "We have to have the most mature forum on the web!"

If you didn't notice we get better quality entries now than we ever have. Sure we get a lot of crap, but we're getting more good things than we did in the past. I remember how you could wait a month for something really good, now good things come in daily.

Oh, believe me I know. The BBS isn't much of a priority. It's an extra, for those of us that choose to use it. For the major portion of my NG life I chose not to use it myself.
But the portal being flooded with hentai game after hentai game as a result of all the kids on here hungry for porn, and things being over or undervoted based on who the author is and not the quality of the flash definately are problems.. Whether you see them as such or not.

If you didn't notice we get better quality entries now than we ever have. Sure we get a lot of crap, but we're getting more good things than we did in the past. I remember how you could wait a month for something really good, now good things come in daily.

Actually I hadn't noticed. Most of the things that come in daily, to be hailed as "good" are only "average" by old standards, there's just so much absolute garbage being submitted nowadays that standards have lowered. Most people don't even try anymore, they just submit whatever and as long as it has somewhat decent graphics and a filesize above 200KB it'll likely live because of n00bs wanting their protect points.

Though, to credit your statement we'd never have gotten amazing stuff like the Brackenwood films on old NG. So perhaps the price we pay for the lowered quality of the average submission.

Fuck it.
