I sat around playing internet games for half of the day. The other half I spent poking the BIOS reset switch on some poor sods motherboard with a magnetic screwdriver, and replacing someone's motherboard three times.

Couldve been worse, on my work exp i spent 2 hours shredding useless files. To liven it up a bit i started seeing what metal objects would and wouldn't jam up the shredder

No, I'm going to do my GCSEs.

In year 11 (last year of school) I have to spend a week doing real work instead of coursework. They arrange it for you (unless you want to yourself), and you go there for a week. My place is great. I do piss all.

In my high school, you did work experience in year 9, and in year 11 Community Service, for 8 weeks or some other ungodly amount of time.

It's exactly what it sounds like - slavery. I spent it in an old people's home, doing dull tasks like mopping floors and wiping tables and washing dishes, and effectively robbing some poor bastard out of a potential paid job. It was so horrible. And the elderly are so boring and so incontinent.

I started working at a design house during my last year of HS. I get out of school @ 12, rode the bus for 1 1/2 hours, got off smelling like hobos and piss and worked until 5 sending faxes/making copies/designing whatever nobody else wanted to design.

They eventually hired me and kept me on until the company went under 4 years later. I never had to work a Mcdonalds.... but I'll probably work there when I'm 68.

I'm either going to be at a media place or a bank for my work experience in July, even if I'll only be at work experience for one week instead of two because of the holiday I'm going to.

I did a week in an engineering workshop making car jacks. It was full of cynical old gits who'd come in every the morning and talk about the porno they wanked over last night. I spent most of my time drilling holes in bits of metal and livening up the day by seeing how much swarf it took to block the oil channels. Also it was 8 till 5 which is really long hours if you're not used to it and the work is crap and repetitive. Fun, fun, fun.

I did my week of work experience during year10. Rather stupidly, i chose to go to Specsavers and it was probably the most boring week of my life and my back was crippled after that week. Most of the time i just stood there observing and some of the staff tried to offload the menial tasks on me while they ran off for their lunch break.
