Sonic Music vs Mario Music

What do you think is better? The music from the Sonic the Hedgehog games, or from the mario games? Personally, I reckon Mario games have catchier tunes, but Sonic music is just better quality. You can notice the differences especially in the 8-bit games (i.e the master system/game gear and the NES). For a comparison listen to the midis at VGmusic.com.
There are some really good sonic ones at Espiokaos.com. My faves from that site are "Scrambled egg zone" on sonic 2 on the game gear and "1P vs 2p" on Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean machine.

Personally, I like Mario's music better it's catchier and isn't as fruity. But honestly, I don't care for either......Video games aren't known for awsome music, just memorable tunes.

Anyways, If any of my fans read that they'll probably cut off my head....Silly me for making a flash involving Sonic.

Comparing NES/SNES Mario and Sega Sonic, I'd have to say Sonic.

If your talking old gen like SNES and Gensis tehn Mario wins. But if your talking new gen with Gamecube, Sonic wins..City Escape in Sonic Adventure 2 was an amazing song.

No way! I have wasted much of my younger life on that game. The music just got annoying! I swear it. Even though I have played Sonic games much less than Mario games, I like the music much, much more (even though not playing them as a often could be a reason why I'd like them more, even though the music is better anyway).

The music in Mario titles such as Mario 3 is cool, but Sonic music is just fast paced, and awesome.

But Mario music has so many redeeming qualities too!

But as far as the main vs goes. I'll pick Sonic. Assuming we're basing this off of old games. Mario 64 music is rather catchy.

Id have to say there are more memorable and quality Mario songs than Sonic. You have to remember here this isnt just the Mario Platformer games. This counts Mario Paint, Mario Kart/64 and so on. Sonic has had much fewer games based on the franchise that are well known and distributed. Both have kickass songs though. From the original Super Mario Bro.'s Mushroom Kingdom tune to Super Mario World / RPG to Mario 64 / Kart 64 to Mario Sunshine. Sonic has had great hits like the Green Hill Zone and Ice Cap Zone, the demo for Sonic Adventure on the long forgotten Dreamcast back in the day gave a taste of some of the great music you would hear. Personally, I think they are both their own kind of music. Sonic tends to be more fast paced and energized, while Mario is more happy and slower for the most part. Anyway, both roxor.

Mario. His songs are catchy and entertaining. Few can dislike the Super Mario World Overworld theme.

Deffiantly Sonic games. The classic ones, Sonic had emerald hill, boss music, angle island zone, and the hyper sonic theme that fit the mood of play and were enjoyable. Mario music, such as the classic over world, classic underground music and super mario world's music, were all very catchy tunes.

As for the newer ones (nintendo 64 and up, dreamcast and up), Mario still has very catchy tunes that you could be caught whistling, but sonic has moved on to songs you would actually listen to on a cd player while still having classic elements to it.

Sonic music is just catchy as fuck...I love Sonic Music overall though.
