It doesn't matter much anyway. The catch is that after 7 days the late fees are dropped and you are charged with the price of the movie. Basically, after 7 days you buy it.

We have netflix I think its a pretty good deal, I mean if you only want like three solid movies to watch for awhile its perfect, and they actually keep their promise with no late fees. GameFly too awesome.

i got this membership from hollywood video which allows me to rent up to 3 free dvds at a time. It's everybody that is 3 -4 weeks old. So that's pretty good.

hey do u ever read the fine print at the bottom of the screen. well if u do u would see it says "at participating locations". if u want true no late fees go to netflix. it is worth it i have it. just dont keep the movies over a week and u can get about 6 a week if u do it right

If you’re looking for a cheap DVD, there’s one particular scam which worked every time, because you can’t really prove otherwise. On the shelves there’s the display case of the movie, and behind the display case is the actual movie in a locked DVD box. The protocol is that you take the movie to the check out counter, and the high school clerk removes the DVD lock so that you can open the case.

Now, these locks are usually thrown in a box on the counter. You need to snatch one of these locks when you walk in, or on a previous day. On a busy Friday night, the clerks are often too busy to know what’s going on anyways. Just reach over the counter quick-like and grab one. I know what you’re thinking - What the hell do I need a DVD lock for.

After you have the lock, go grab the video you want to keep. Rent it like you would any other video. Then go outside, and wait a few minutes until a dozen or so customers have gone through the check-out process. In your car, take the DVD out of the case, close the case and put the lock on the empty case.

The key to this scam is making sure enough people have passed through the line so the clerk won’t remember if they forgot to take the lock off. Forgetting to unlock DVD’s happens a fair bit, and usually the customer comes in and complains, and the clerk opens in, and the problem is solved. When you go in, just say that they forgot to unlock it. When they unlock it, they’ll notice that there’s no DVD inside. They’ll then give you another copy in exchange, which you return by the due date. That’s scoring a DVD for the price of a rental.

New releases are 3 days, old ones are 7. Keep mind mind we're talking about late fees, so it would be after the original 3 or 7 day rental that the late days/fees would start to count.

In other words, if you rent a movie for 7 days then keep it for 7 more days then by day 14 they would charge you for the movie you would own it.
