Got a new HDD.

Cost me $65.

Go to install windows. Nothing on the screen.

WTF?

no POST. no BIOS. nothing.

MY motherboard was the culprit! I mean, my old HDD had some bad sectors, but apparently still worked. So, now I have 2 80gb HDDs and a non-working Motherboard (its the AGP slot, but I can't just replace that).

Son-of-a-cock.

Thats another $70!

He spent $65 on the hard drive, but it was the motherboard that died.

But yeah, I've had to deal with all sorts of shitty problems like that. I've had two different computers have an IDE channel die on me when adding/swapping a hard drive. My current computer has a total of 6 DIMM slots, yet I can't get more than two strips to ever work at the same time, leaving me with two strips of perfectly good ram just sitting around, but that was a waste of $100

Indeed, so when you buy a new motherboard, stay away from Gigabyte's GA- 8IK1100. As I found out afterward, it's pretty infamous for having memory issues.

Yeah, I've had my motherboard blow on me. Some of the capacitors were bad, and they leaked and fried some parts of the board. That cost me about $80, but, on the positve note, my new motherboard was more compatible with my software.

I put computers in the same class as women. I don't try to understand them, I just let them help me to get what I want. If they break, you leave 'em alone and sometimes the problem will fix itself. If it doesn't fix itself, you wind up having to buy a lot of expensive shit you don't need.

OMGSOSMART!!

Its not a shit computer. I've had it for 3 years and I have to replace the motherboard. Not bad, all things considered.

It ran bad-ass 3 years ago, and still does.

Is a PCI video card out of the question?
