4.03 / 5.00 49,754 ViewsIn what sense? Look at legendaryfrog's movies. There's a lot of details in his films and with all the audio his barely go over 5 megs. The only reason I could think of is you're not creating symbols and reusing them.
Wade is such a caring fellow. Enjoy while you can see him at level 17, also. Soon, he shall be the 18ness and smite us all!

Yeah, though I agree with him 100%. However, there's a lot more issues, like all these free blams you can get. There should be a minimum file size of 100 kb. I'm just tired of these 2 kb submissions.

Gah .. people say this every time they're on the "verge" of leveling up.
Wade isn't depositing! The increasing EXP requirements for the levels are slowly swallowing him up, causing him to go DOWN a level. He's been this way for a long time.
Lol keep a little bit on topic. Rage VI, what do you think about this?
I did a bit of research myself, exporting over 50 movies in the name of learning about optimisation.
If people are interested, I'll post detailed results.
The main points I learned are that best doesn't always sound better than fast and that the stereo control points of a custom effect only work if you export the sound in stereo.
Edit points take up next to no size - about as much as a blank frame.

Well yeah but with each movie comes different specs. Here are a few key specs.
For voices, you never really want to go below 48 kbps, otherwise you'll start to lose clarity.
For music, you need 56-80 kbps, max 112 kbps, though 80 usually does the job.

Is this meant to be in reply to me? Then why the 'but'? You're not going against anything I said...
Here are a few key specs.
And if you want us to consider each movie without generalisations, why provide them?

I'd say those guidelines are far too high.
And you seem to have contradicted slightly what you wrote above.

Sorry I was basing that on the top you could ever post at. I know a bunch of guys who to an online radio station called Defconradio and they broadcast at 56 kbps. Anything above those values would simply lag out systems when streaming. Personally, I'd never use values larger than that, though it might go different for flash playback.
I screwed up on the approximate bitrates. The voices should be 16-32 kbps. And as for music, you should be ok with 56k unless it's a feature.
First off, converting to wav before importing has ALWAYS axed down the filesize for me. As far as i know, when you try to import a sound file into flash, it attempts to convert it to a low-grade MP3 (or someting similar). If you file is already an MP#, it can't do that, so you keep the massive filesize. converting to WAV files makes your .fla file massive, but yoiur .swf file tiny in comparrison.
One of the movies i'm currently working on is currently 5 minutes long, and has sound and music nearly the whole way through so far, and is still under 1 MB. The sound quality isn't always the best, but most of that is due to a bad mic, and not due to sound optimisation. all the music is fine, the sound isn't really choppy or anything.
Most of you aren't professionals, and this site is meant to be about your artwork rather than just your sound quality. This place isn't for getting you a career, so you don't need to have your sound at the highest possible quality. if you want to use your animations in a portfolio, upgrade the sound and host it yourself elsewhere.
oh, and ignore the poor grammer, spelling and sentence structure. I'm damned tired, so sue me.
I am aware of that... Well anyway the reason to this post is that I would want to get in touch with you. I know that you are busy, but it's important (I think). It's about a flash movie, many people (as the top members) are a part of it, and we would all be disapointed if you won't be in it. =(
Anyway, listen to the members. We want you to be a part of the project! =D
/Andersson, M-A-R-C-U-S, mrpopenfresh, Slick031, Nyllet, j00bie, kity. And all the members that want this to happen! =)
Oh. I am refearing to the Fulp brothers... I am making a flash movie and a lot of the top members are in it. Everyone that is a NG member or a NG user that want to get interviewed can also contact me. Thank you.

Hah I seriously though think that this should be posted on the flash submission page. I mean, audio optimization is a major problem, and everyone's using either Flash 5, MX, or MX 2004, which simply means that there's no excuse that it's not a supported feature.
i think wade fulp looks like dave grohl ( the best drummer and lead singer of the best band in the world ) from the foo fighters and nirvana any one else think this or is it just me
Uhhh, hey this is my first time posting a reply, can anyone tell me if there's a plac for likeinstant chat or some other forum where i can talk to other ng'ers?
Yupp, there's a link at the top, or click here
It's a Java chat, so make sure you have a newer version

Please take time to optimize your work to keep the file size down. Keeping the file size to a minimum will allow more people to view your work and will reduce the load on our bandwidth. Please review this page on audio optimization tips:

Also be sure all imported images are compressed as much as possible while keeping the quality reasonable. We have a 5MB limit, but that doesn't mean you should be lazy and submit a 4-5MB entry when it could be 500k-2MB. Not only will this help improve your views, score, and the performance of Newgrounds, it is a good practice to learn. Remember, this is the Internet and not everyone has a fast connection. Keeping things as stream lined as possible is very important.
