If Casillas is injured they'll just bring in another of their amazing keepers out. Reina, Valdes, etc.
Whoevers taking these guys out needs to take a trip to the Nou Camp and get Xavi and Iniesta, otherwise we won't see the ball :P.

Yeah, that's why the streets of English cities are literally FILLED with drunken revellers on St. Patrick's day, most of them drinking Guinness and wearing those (admittedly awesome) St. Patrick's day promotional hats.
The current youth culture loves it because it's a better excuse to get hammered than a friday night, so it's only going to get bigger.

Rooney was expensive, but he was also a kid that we nurtured. Same with Ronaldo.
Are you having a laugh? Man Utd started buying their success well before most Englishmen had even heard of Roman Abramovich. Andrew Cole £7m from Newcastle in 1995. Granted, this was funded by the sale of players like Ince, Kanchelskis and Hughes, but when further purchases, such as Vidic, Carrick, Evra and Ronaldo could have accounted for the net worth of most other clubs in the Football League, you've got to assume that there is not a level playing field.

I find it difficult enough to hold onto them. I had one from St. Patrick's day 2007 which got either lost or stolen. The one that I've currently got sitting proudly on my chest of drawers was even more difficult to retain because people in the student union kept stealing them off people's heads. Nearly lost it several times during the course of the night, so the fact that I've still got it is far more impressive than the measly four pints of Guinness you have to drink to earn one in the first place.

Aside from Carrick they were all cheap for todays standards. Vidic and Evra were both around £4-6million and Ronaldo as an 18 year old might of been silly at £12m but for what he turned into and eventually cost was nowt.
All clubs have to buy to be successful but United got their 90s rise on the back of homegrown players like Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Nevilles, Butt and some ridiculously good buys like Keane and Cantona. The money from those years of success have been huge in the silly £30m spendings that we've been able to do. I don't see United anyway near as bad as Chelsea or City or buying success.
Another bright day here today, the trees leaves are coming on nicely. Not much else to say really.

4 pints is easy to do - buy a round and have your friends drink you to that hat!
Failing that, buy a pitcher of Guinness - the look on the face of the barmaid will be worth it.
If you have a particularly hated barman, ask him for a Guinness Shandy - once the lemonade hits the stout, it goes everywhere in a very sticky mess.

Of course they were - before Cole came good, I remember the jokes about Fergie having blown £7m on the world's most expensive black pudding.
If Utd get a problem, they throw money at it. The same goes for Chelsea, Man City and to a certain extent, Liverpool. Arsenal haven't under Wenger, once he got the players he wanted in and not many other teams can afford to be so extravagant.

You've got to speculate to accumulate - who could have afforded the frankly ridiculous price tag for Ronaldo when Man U bought him?

Admit it, neither of the Nevillies have ever been any good!
Rose tinted glasses, anyone?
People ask me why I like American Sports - one reason is that the draft keeps the talent spread between the teams, the salary cap keeps things more competitive and at the end of the day, I quite like Ice Hockey, Baseball and Basketball.
Here comes the glorious British summertime. Can't wait for Download Festival 2010, and the weather is getting better to. It's all looking up.

Yeah, I must admit Download's pretty solid this year, not really my scene but still geez, it looks good.

Eh, I suppose. I just offended that you'd put United in with Chelsea and City :P.

Nevar! Gary was great in his day. And Phil is apparently doing pretty good at Everton.

Hey, I'm not supporting the way football is. Its my preferred sport but theres a lot that needs to be improved with it. I couldn't watch American sports though, the accents would grate on me too much :p.

You shouldn't be offended by opinions, after all, you're entitled to one yourself

Well, I've ruled out Conservative and BNP, thus leaving me four candidates to choose from. Liberal Democrat, Labour, Health Concern and UKIP. All of whom have policies that I like, but then again ones that I dislike.
Isn't politics fun? :D
I'm not voting, but if I was registered then I'd vote for Lib Dems I imagine.
Just finished an exam, so now I've only got one left to finish off my second year. Definitely looking forward to the summer, although I'll still have to do research for my dissertation, but it's time off nevertheless.
I can almost TASTE the freedom.
I voted Lib Dem, because when I was younger I always said I'd support the underdog, and now it seems like they actually have a chance to get in to.

Same here, Got up early and voted before college. First time voting, it was a lot quicker process then I first thought. I didn't think it was literally here, cross a box, put the paper in there, Good see you in 5 years.
hah, lib dems got gypped so badly. i thought they were going to do something for once
LOL, Green Party won their first seat. Too bad Tories havn't quite got enough, cba with this hung parliament bollocks.
DO SOMETHING LIZZY!

Make a diary date - we'll probably be back at the polls within a few months. The Liberal Democrats have said the Tories deserve a chance to form a government, but if they need the Liberal support, there would have to be strings attached to get electoral reforms.
I want to see Vince Cable as chancellor - he's the one who really cares about the economy and actually knows what he's doing, unlike Darling and Osbourne, respectively.
Kudos to the Greens for getting their first MP - if only we had a candidate in our neck of the woods.

I would never vote for the Tories. The order of what party I would vote for is as follows:
1. Lib Dem
2. Labour
3. Green
4. Legalise Cannibis (so low down because I know there never going to win)
5. UKIP
6. Monster Raving Looney
7. Just don't vote
8. A Ham Sandwich
9. BNP
10. CONservative
I just plain and simple don't like them. Everytime I see David Cameron on the TV I want to punch the screen. And as an added bonus if the Toffs (lets face it, they are......cough* Boris Johnson) come to power the banks will be bankrupt (ironically). Revolution? Anyone?..............What? Who said that? I didn't, I'm clearly happy with the current political situation.
Kudos to the Greens for getting their first MP
I agree, good for them. At least they seem to care about the future.

I wouldn't vote for either of these parties, even if there were no opponents standing against them. Mind you, if that did happen, I might have stood myself :P
Also, with your highlighting of the CON, did you see the headline in the mirror, regarding Cameron and Clegg apparently getting into bed together?
CON DEM nation, making reference to the Lib Dem contraction. I think that it sums it up nicely, as Cameron will promise the world to Clegg and then will whip the mat out from under him, going it alone, more or less, with Clegg made a mockery of, still without his political reforms.

CON DEM
Ha Ha Ha.
Thats brlliant. I usally find Tabloid newspaper headlines to be abit cheesey, being a media student I have to read tons of them, but that is great. What strange bed fellows those two will make. I got a feeling that this country is in for a hell of a political shafting in the next few years.
Interesting how quiet this place is now. Have we lost the will to talk openly about our fair country now that we're under Conservative rule?
At 5/20/10 10:46 PM, NEVR wrote: Interesting how quiet this place is now. Have we lost the will to talk openly about our fair country now that we're under Conservative rule?
Trying to get my head around the new two party system, I'm afraid. I'm waiting to see how impotent... or was that important the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is.
But at the end of the day, I've registered to be opinionated on politics and I can say that Cameron is a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.
Apparently their trying to get rid of EMA. As a college student with no job I depend on EMA for a little money for food and college equipment. I'm not happy about that. I can understand that the country needs money and cutting EMA would ensure that the Government would have abit more money to pump into the banks and businesses but if they cut there own salaries again it would be just as good. Or they could cut the amount of money that goes to the EU, it all goes on things in countries that don't need them. Pointing no fingers. * COUGH Spain.
Come on. Can we not keep this thread alive?
There are many thing England related that we could discuss. The old classic The World Cup, the shootings in Cumbria or whatever. We can keep this thread alive. Because were English.
