Although, I did enjoy their film, Orgazmo (Stone & Parker's film, that is)

That may be the case, but he is ugly. I can get specialist coaching and get a nice racket. Murray can't be cured :o

Of being ugly? Well, that's a matter of opinion, to be honest. I don't have one, as I'm a straight man. I wouldn't sleep with him, but look at his girlfriend. She's a bit of a stunner, so he's got to have something in the looks department.

Now I'm not a world-renowned expert on women, but I'd have thought that the size of one's wallet is not the be all and end all of getting laid. I mean, I don't know many women who would sleep with the Elephant Man, because he had a fortune the size of Bill Gates's bank balance.

I think the elephant man is an extreme example, as being physically deformed is far, far worse than just being plain old ugly. I still have faith in a woman's insatiable need for shoes.

I have actually been in Berlin the past few days, snacking on Curry wurst and drinking Berliner Kindl, so I'm still adjusting back into the English lifestyle. It will be a few days before I am mentally prepared for brandy and cigars again.

Sorry, I was watching the cricket and then playing cricket myself. I've got a decent average so far this year - 4 wickets at an average of 7 runs per wicket and the batting... could be better. An average of 3 isn't spectacular at all. However, I might just be able to improve from there...

Speaking of cricket, why aren't we talking about the Ashes? How in the name of God did we draw that first test?

I should have brought some cigars back from Barcelona with me... they were damn cheap over there. The problem was that I'd had to pay over £100 to fast track my passport application the week before I flew out, so that took out a sizable chunk of my holiday fund, and by the end of the 10 days, I pretty much only had enough money to pay for public transport to get back home :(

Well, it's a combination of bloody mindedness, grit, determination and a whole truck load of Lady Luck.

Now we're starting to pay back the debt, as Freddie's picked up a knock and GBH is back in the squad as cover. I'm expecting Onions to replace Panesar, as Lords favour seam bowling. Let's just hope that we can get a decent showing and at least push towards a win after day 1 this time :P

I will say that I was very disappointed with the way we sent out the 12th man and the physio. Even though overall, it probably didn't have a big effect on the outcome of the match-the Aussies had plenty of time to bowl us out, it really wasn't in the spirit of the game. We deserve some comeuppance, and I think the Aussies are going to give it to us, especially if Freddie is out for the next Test.

There was no gamesmanship about it - genuine injury concerns and the need for a new set of gloves is something that can be the difference between drawing the test match and losing it.

The momentum is with us today, having reduced Australia to 156-8, chasing down our 425, so we just have to hammer it home tomorrow.

Yes, he was a genius - I have a running discussion with one guy at the pub, who has a degree in English History, who thinks that Tolkien can't write for shit. I've so far simply pointed out that he's a better author than either of us could ever amount to. He's a little condescending in his manners, which I don't like, but I will have to try and encourage out of him over time.

Opps, this topic isn't what I thought it was. Sorry for that.

Sure, we take the piss out of the way that people perceive us to talk, but it's kind of how we started - now it's more of a discussion board for English people.

Right, time for some Xenophobia:

England today started off trying to win the first Ashes test at Lords for the first time in 75 years or so. After Fred Flintoff removed one of the 'danger men', Brad Haddin, early on, Graeme Swann took the prized wicket of Michael Clarke and the Australian Innings slowly fell apart, leaving Wallabies skipper Ricky Ponting with some thinking to do ahead of the third Test at Edgbaston on the 30th of July.

Leading the series 1 game to nil with three left to play, there is still a chance of Glenn McGrath's prediction of a 3-1 Aussie Victory coming true, but it's looking slightly more remote now.

Still, I'd love to see the test in Brum and considering that I've booked the week after to go to London for the NG meet, I'll be missing the Headingley Test as well, before the boys return to - you've guessed it - London for the final test.

Still, thankfully I can still catch up with it all on Five :)

It'll take time. When I have brought up convincing points for Tolkien being a good writer, he has just gone all quite and changes the topic. Been a while since he has had a go about Tolkien in front of us though, so either he really is thinking about it or he has learned to keep to himself on that particular topic at least. We will see next time the topic comes up.

Not that I particularly like their music, I just don't think that someone should be killed for this sort of thing. After all, we didn't like some Austrian chap doing just that 70 years ago, did we?

Seems a bit odd. Maybe she had doubts and you meeting her parents was too quick (esp if she was questioning herself) so she bottled it and stopped it before it went further.
