Welcome to the wonderful world of Birmingham Uni Bureaucracy. I had the same problem, in that it was stupidly short notice. Where are you supposed to be stopping? If its one of the Uni run ones you should be able to phone them up and say that you can't get them the cash straight away, but will ASAP type thing. You can try the same thing if its one of the private halls, but its less likely to succeed. Either way, phone and explain the situation.

My dad nearly died in a motorcyle crash before so I cannot nearly begin to imagine how his family must be feeling. They have my condolances

It's tragic, but at the end of the day, there was noting we could do.

Blimey, that's awful.
My dad had a motorcycle accident when he was about 17 or so, but he only broke his leg. I always wanted to learn to ride a motorbike, but there's a lot of reasons I can think of why it wouldn't be a good idea.

That's a deposit, the actual accomodation comes to around 4.5k for the term.

What kind of room do you have? I got an en suite and it's 3.5k for the year (I assume you meant year). I know a girl who's at Birmingham, but I don't know how much she was paying for her accommodation.
Are you american?
Normally americans say "Tally ho, chap" to annoy us.

Everyone in this club is English or at the very least British. We occasionally indulge in a bit of satirical English stereotyping for a laugh. If you actually get annoyed when Americans say 'tally ho', then you should probably start taking yourself a bit less seriously ;P
Yep, everyone in this club hold a Brittish pasport (some of us hold other passports as well) though I am worrying about coop atm, he's been talkking WAY too much about baseball and NASCAR for anybody whos been living in the UK recently. What's up with that coop?

i was just about to send it off when i realised i'd misplaced the second passport photo I needed to provide... I've either got to find that, or get new photos, then get them re-signed by my neighbour.

Well, we all knew BlueHippo was gay. I couldn't really understand what he was saying, because he had a mouth full of cock, but you get the picture.

I lead what is called an alternative lifestyle. I just happen to like things that happen in America for some reason. I went to Canada as a kid and have been into Ice Hockey ever since. Watching that late at night on Five got me into the Baseball, which was shown on certain nights when I was expecting to see hockey games.
NASCAR fandom developed from trying to find more motorsport when the Schumacher era was in full swing and the F1 became predictable and boring. IRL was gay and so I joined the crowd of hicks. My driver hasn't won a title yet, but he's certainly driving well this year :)
Only worry about me if I say the following :
1) Baseball is better than Cricket
2) American Football is really called 'Football'
I know where my heart lies - here in England. I just enjoy things from across the pond. I'm making the best of it, since we can't enjoy some of the things that they send across, like Mariah Carey and the Credit Crunch, for example

That's a point - technically, I don't either - it expired and the photo is somewhat non-representative any more :P

Not at all - it's my affiliation with Canada that is probably the cause of it - if ever I chose to emigrate, I'd happily chose Canada.

To be honest, most of us have been affected badly enough by the credit crunch not to have passports of our own - since we either can't afford holidays to require passports or the fact that we've allowed them to lapse.

The only reason I hold one is because I went on holiday in 2006 (for which I renewed my original passport), and last year as well. Since then, no holidays for me. My passport has been very much unused this year.
Gordon Brown is on holiday right now apparently, that fucker. Hopefully whilst he's away his cabinet will plot his overthrow. Apparently his advisors have said told him not to leave the country in case that actually happens.
altone else watching "Lost land of the Jaguar" on BBC1??
Its absolutely incredible, and this rockclimbing section is blowing my mind :|

Well, they're all away on holiday at the moment, so I wouldn't say they are all plotting his demise together. Just some of them are probably doing it separately.
I've got back from yesterday's wedding, with a nice smile on my face - the celebrations were nice, aside from the fact that they didn't feed me enough. The buffet was a slightly organised scrum, where they stopped me and the other members of Table 1, the youngest table at the do by some considerable margin, from getting served until all of the good food had gone.
The pig roast in the evening was nicer, but it was even more chaotic - people just waded in and took what they wanted, which was great if like me, you were astute enough to get in the queue early and often
Hell, the band was good though :)

Are they indeed? I know that one labour MP (forget his name -- David something-or-rather) is making a bid for Prime Minister, which is allegedly being backed by Lord Sainsbury, the incredibly rich Blairite, who evidently wants to see Gordon Brown out of office as much as some of Brown's cabinet do..

AHH, Hog roast. That brings back some memories. I've experienced one at my 6th form ball, of all places, and my girlfriend at the time watched on helplessly whilst I went back for 3rd and 4th helpings. That truly was an excellent night.

Always nice when the band is good. Sometimes you get a terrible band and it makes the whole reception unbearable. Glad you had a good time though.

Milliband is allegedly doing that, but he's being very coy about it.

Yeah, but working it off the next morning is going to be a bitch.
I wasn't looked at with any bad feeling - girlfriend's family love me for some strange reason, god only knows why :P, but My girl's cousin, Nick had 4 baps that he had filled with approximately half a pig in total. He had a good evening, as he downed about 12 pionts of Fosters to keep himself working nicely :P
