There once was a guy who had owned a very big fortune... he also spend hundreds of billions of dollars on useless wars... he asked the governments around the world to relieve Iraq of their national debt, and encouraged people to send money for rebuilding that country...

This same man sent and enormous amount of money to the victims of the tsunami in Asia, namely.... 10.000 dollars.

Yeah, I'm talking about Bush here.

The guy's a fucking trazillionair, wastes money all over the globe and wanted us to give money to the poor people of iraq and afghanistan but out of his huge fortune he couldn't spare more than 10.000 lousy dollars to aid the people in Asia. I bet the only reason he bothered to sent anything at all was because it would look even worse if he didn't contribute anything.

Wow, tha's pretty shitty. My friend organized a party that raised over $5000 from just college/university students to be sent over for aid. What a douche.

You do realize that of the expected 2 billion dollars that is expected to be spent on the relief effort, the United States will be giving in excess of 600 million, right? That doesn't include the 12,000 U.S. Soldiers, or the two Navy Battleships we're sending over there now.

You want to talk about cheap bastards, go ahead. But I suggest you do so in the context of oil rich nations (read: Saudi Arabia) in the middle east who have only given less than a 1/100th of a percent of their total wealth.

Are you talking about the money bush has given out of his own pocket?
If so, then I agree with you a bit, although there are other rich people who probebly gave very little as well.

The Navy doesn't have any battleships anymore. The Kitty Hawk is on it's way to help with the relief efforts as are several Cruisers. Pretty much any ship with a detached airwing is headed over there to give support.

How many of us have $10,000 to spare?

The point is that Bush has a lot of money, and by his standards $10,000 isn't a lot.

Interesting argument:

Since when was it the GOVERNMENTS job to provide foreign aid? Why can't I just keep my fucking money and send it myself? Don't I have a right to keep and distribute the fruits of my own labor? Isn't that what freedom MEANS?

Um.... 10000 is just about what I make in a year. You don't get much less stingy than that. I've only personally donated 20 dollars. Calling Bush stingy in this situation is just..... ungrateful.

Besides, it isn't Bush who's giving/not giving out this money. It's Congress. Go take a course in governement sometime.

Oh, and Veggie: What do you know about Bush? YOU'RE A WOODEN SHOE PERSON. Worry about your own continent, and quit trying to run mine.

I agree. We don't have to give anything to any other country. Having liberated people from all over the world, rebuilding Europe with the Marshall Plan, and singlehandedly building the 2nd richest and most generous nation (Japan) after World War II, you'd think we could sit one out.

However, that's not the American vision. We are a great, compassionate people who reaches out and gives aid when it is needed, even if it hurts. We don't have to, but people forget that so easily.

I won't criticize anyone who gives to a cause unless they are doing it to look like a saint.

In any case, I did the calculations. Let's say that a family making 40,000 a year donates the average donation of 50 dollars. In the end, you have a dojnation that is .125% of the yearly income. In president Bush's case, his salary is like, what, ten times that? Okay, let's say 400,000 and let's find what percent 10,000 of his income is. You'll find out that it is 2.5%. That's 20 times what the average donation that the average person makes! And that is also assuming that every American who donates has an income that small, which as we know is nonsense. We also know that the average AMerican family might give more or less, but you have a rough idea about what many Americans spend on charity. Are you going to criticize the average family for donating a small amount of their income? NO!! The average American gives less than 2% of their total income to charity! And that's higher than in most countries! Also, 10,000 doesn't even include all the other charities President Bush gives to, and trust me, he gives to many others. Check his tax return records, and compare them to Gore or Kerry. You'll see that he's far more generous with his hard earned cash. Could he do more? Yeah. So what? This is America, and we can do what we want with the money the government doesn't take from us.

Please, everyone who criticizes George W., Go to Hell. I can't stand your self-righteous tirades.

Dude, any argument containing the word "should" is pretty fucking weak. Period. The whole point of ownership of money is that you can do whatever you want with it, no matter what anyone else says.

Bush doesn't have to do shit but pay taxes and die. That's it. That's what freedom MEANS. That's what freedom IS.

How can you be against self determination, the very thing that allows you make these posts while you SHOULD be doing all you can to help the tsunami victims? Every second you're on the internet, YOU'RE NOT PRODUCING FOOD OR MEDICINE FOR THE NEEDY.

Why should Bush be held to a higher standard? He's not a king or a god; he's just a man, like you or me.

That's the president's salary, roughly. Maybe a a couple ten thousand more. Still doesn't change the point. Also, he's made more money and given more money than almost any prominent liberal/democrat. (because democrats think of tax money as enforced charity).

by that alone, your defense statement defaults as bullshit

Really? Are you sure you actually read my statement? Considering that the president's salary is fairly accurate and the average salary and donation is fairly accurate...you must be blind.

we shouldn't be forced or feel forced to donate squat
but isn't life about helping others in times of need? if we have the resources, and it wont kill us to give it; why not?

So? He did give it. He's allowed to give what he wants. Unfortunately for liberals, nothing is enough until the redistribution of wealth becomes so expansive that it no longer is capitalism but socialism.

if he's such a strong born again christian, he should know whatever u give here, you will be rewarded even greater in your afterlife

That's such nonsense. The only pre-requisite of Heaven is accepting Jesus Christ as the Savior and repenting for your sins, and the payoff is equal for every person who chooses to do so. You might want to consider Jesus Christ as the Savior if you haven't already too. If you're interested feel free to IM me.

I would love to see some solid, non-skewed evidence of this. I have a feeling that your evidence will be a little tainted by a liberal historian's Marxist biases. Besides, foreign policy after the Cold War was about keeping our spheres of influence and freeing people in the process. WE've made our mistakes, but you are coming from the destructive point of view I call, "My Country - Always Wrong!"

I just love sappy emotional bullshit. It makes me cry.
