hey everyone! whats up? i was using that audicity program before ..... but .... certain times you end up sounding like a robot which was really annoying so hobbes told me about this other program called Cool Edit Pro, at first it looked complicated so i didn't use it and kept using audicity but finally I began using it and fell in love with it, it has so many options and stuff its great, Audicity is great if you don't have any money and don't know how to get it the not so legal way, I won't mention which version i have, anyways check em both out audicity was great for my first program, if you do it right, most of the time you won't have that robot voice when you try and get rid of the noise ;). oh omahdon thanks for voting a 5 on the Majin Vegetto movie, everyone else so should go and check it out (yeah right) anyways have fun peeps.

I can do voice acting. I'v got a rather deep voice and I'm best at portraying serious/angry/death is coming for you type stuff. I use a professional Marshall condensor mic with all the goodies so it's clear audio.

I could post an example if someone could post part of a script that they need done. Just whatever.

Slow day today, eh? Fine with me, less stuff for the megapost to reply to! Anyway, while I've been off the NGVAC braving the academic minefield that is college, I found time to do some mixing for an audioplay episode of Lifepoint1's Kazahana Family Mass Battle series. Have a download of 471's Introduction and tell me what you think! Or don't if you're feeling lazy and/or don't care. It stars Lucien, G-Force (not an NGVAC member) and myself. Listen to it with the lights turned off. It might help set the mood!

Also, had a bit of a talk with audigy over getting a website of some sort so everything NGVAC-related becomes centralised in a single location: So if people want to join, need help on stuff, want a server to upload their samplers/work to or need someone to turn to and complain thoroughly, then they can do it at that site. Admittedly, they can do it here as well but.... The site could provide facilities like tutorials and stuff so we don't have to constantly tell people what to do to clean up samples in Audacity or whatnot. Well, I don't know what everybody thinks about that idea but it sounds nice to me.... Though I'm still torn on the idea if the NGVAC really needs its own website. There was talk of turning this into some kind of money-making enterprise as well, but for now: concentrate on the idea of having a NGVAC website. Good idea, or non? I'm worried about the server fees a bit, myself. Nobody wants to do anything that isn't free. O.o

And now, megapost.

Shalamaseskia and Bezo: Judging from the number of people I still have to remind over the need for a sampler, it looks like it ain't gonna stop anytime soon. At least I have a ready-made cut-n-paste response now. Saves me the time I'd normally spend typing out several paragraphs worth of material, explaining that their lack of sampler is directly proportional to their cranial capacity.

grim_studios: Great stuff. Your swf resume still isn't working for me, but the html link does so your resume looks fine to me! I'll just add the link to your resume in your roster profile.

Hoeloe and MustardGT: If you want to join the club, check out the How to Join? section of the Newgrounds' Voice Acting Club Roster. It'll provide the details for how to join, as well as help on how to fill the requirements. PLEASE DO NOT POST A PROFILE WITHOUT A SAMPLER UPLOADED SOMEWHERE FOR DOWNLOAD. DO NOT SAY "I'LL MAKE ONE LATER" OR "I'll GET A MICROPHONE IN THREE MONTHS" OR "EMAIL ME FOR SAMPLES PLZ, K?". GET A SAMPLER, HAVE IT UPLOADED AND LINK IT BEFORE POSTING YOUR PROFILE. THIS IS NOT A NEGOTIABLE POINT. THIS MESSAGE IS IN ALL-CAPS AND BOLDED FOR A REASON. SORRY IF IT SEEMS REPETITIVE, I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THIS POINT WAS CONVEYED PROPERLY. Finally, this is a VOICE ACTING club. It is not a I CAN DO ALL THESE VOICES THAT I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE I CAN DO BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A MIC club. Don't try and join if you don't have a working microphone. That's just plain stupid.

RamsesThePigeon: Ooooh, very nice sampler! Did you script, mix and voice all that yourself? Cause that was quite the awesome, and many shades of funny too! I'll add your profile to the roster later on.

Shinigami_Ichigo: Cool Edit Pro = Tops. Especially when you want to try your hand at mixing. Then it becomes such a topfest it's like.... Topless! Or something like that.

t0ast: Nice sampler! You've got good control on your voice there. I'm not entirely sure if your resume is really a resume, since the only role you've listed is Black Belt from the Black Belt vs Black Mage and even then it was to note you didn't make the final cut. O.o Still, I'm more concerned with the availability of a sampler more than anything else, so since you've provided that, welcome aboard! I'll add your profile to the roster later.

TESM: Yeah, yeah, don't worry. Your profile is right here on my "to add" list of pe-- OH MY GOD THE LIST IS ON FIRE! AW GAWD! NOW MY HAND THAT WAS HOLDING ONTO THE LIST IS ON FIRE! NOW I'M ON FIRE! AAAAHHHHHH THE FIRE BURNS SO VERY MUCH! So anyway, after my body becomes nothing but a charred mess of bones and melted flesh, your profile will be added. Fer real. You just worry about your ACTs, and I'll worry about putting myself out before the sheer pain of being burned alive renders me unconscious.

Renewman: Nice work! I have to admit though, compared to all the other VAs in there, your voice samples were crackley, hard to hear and of a significantly lower audio quality than all the other actors. Not to mention your voice just doesn't have the kind of "oomph" of personality that the other actors seem to have infused into their characters. Nice try though, and congrats to everyone who was involved! That was some good voicework there.

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, the resume isn't much since my experience thus far wtih voice acting has been rocky and I have yet to land a role in a completed flash. Too many authors I worked with just weren't willing/able to go through with their plans for a flash, but one has to start somewhere.
And now that I think about it, the bit about BB vs BM does seem unneccecary, glad you pointed it out.
Don't know why I didn't try NG sooner...

I've finally got my VA resume site up. =)
If anyone wants to link to my site, I'll link to theirs as well.

So... We're only 10 posts away from page 100.
I don't really care which one of us gets the first post there, just as long as they include the standard "OMG you need to post samples or we'll kill you!" and a link to the roster. Seeing as how we haven't had those at the top of the page since page 94! o.o

Though I admit I will be kinda annoyed if the first post there is yet another one like...

"hi i need someone to do voices my first flash moive PLZ. lol i probally wont finish this flash but well see. lol. the main caracter is named BOB. if you thik you can handel it msg my on msn plz k???? thx." ~ by Billy, age 10.

vel_jack - All in all, not a bad series of demos. You've got serious background noise going on in all of them except the last one, which I was able to notice even on my SPEAKERS. (I normally listen to demos with headphones and sometimes I can't even hear background noise on there). I think tweaking your input volume or speaking more loudly would help. It sounds like you've got a low input and you're compensating by cranking the overall volume. On the last one, you've got that weird roboty effect that people tell me comes of Audacity's noise reduction. I get some degree of that in Logic as well, which is why I tend not to use the noise reduction feature and focus more on eliminating noise at its source. The best noise reduction is simply a high contrast level between your voice input and the background noise. ie: talk louder. If you're redlining, tweak the input volume.

Every voice actor should be at the very least a pseudo-competent sound engineer if they want to sound good. Just play around with the settings. And listen to your demos with headphones on. Speakers cover a lot of things headphones make clear. ;)

Gah! That was harsh even if it was the truth. Anyways, I know my audio was of lower quality and that Kagome's and everyone else's was better. It might have to do with these reasons:

1. I have a cheap Labtec microphone and not the frickin $100 ones you people worship.

2. I used Audacity to record the voices and not Cool Edit Pro.

3. I just suck at being a VA since all of my past projects sucked.

After seeing all of the projects I've been in, I noticed my voice is always the thing that drags down the quality of the flash. So, I'm going to tkae this weekend to decide if I continue to be a VA or not.

Believe it or not, I get good quality out of a $15 mic that came packaged with IBM ViaVoice about 5-6 years ago...

Renewman : mine is probs same as yours i have a cheap labtec thingy .... but i think the reason why mine has the anouying sound in background is because i have my mic witha input boost on volume control so your not alone.... and btw u dont need to flip your lid because bezo has a 400 dollar one he has the money to do that you cant flip at him for that ......

Man, I would've gotten it if I had any idea how close it was.

By the way, since they call it Cool Edit Pro, does that mean there's a Cool Edit Home/School/Amateur/Free or whatever you would call the free version?
